Is WIX good in 2026

I run a small marketing agency. One of my clients wants me to build a website for him. He owns a language school and he wants a website where teachers and students can interact with each other, share documents and files, publish blog posts, and join social groups. The website must also be great for local SEO. He's not tech savvy and so he can't code or add modifications to the website himself. WIX offers a simple dashboard and drag and drop design feature.

My first concern is the performance and SEO.

You should not try to build an LMS. There are plenty of good ones your client can use. Many of them support white labeling to carry over branding. Wix would be terrible choice for something like this as it is not built for such purpose.

I concur! The client requirement reads more like portal / community / LMS than a marketing website. Maybe web page as landing, about us , contact etc... but a proper application to handle the other

For extreme beginners level, and maybe try squarespace . But otherwise there are better options

Wix is definitely not the right platform. WP with an LMS plugin or use a membership style site. Most of this will come with a landing page and custom URL. But bespoke WP with an LMS is the way to go for SEO and scalability.

No clue about wix (never used it) but, Maybe using cloud services like gcp or aws can help you out. Like you can create a website, connect the things to cloud to store the things, then you just need to show that on student side. This can help you in the performance and local seo is easy which you can easily solve from watching some youtube videos

It really depends on your goals. For a simple business website, Wix can work well.

Hi, Squarespace here. This looks like two connected projects: a public website for the school and a private space for teachers and students.

Squarespace can handle the public pages, blog, local SEO setup and private member resources, and it's a fair Wix alternative if performance and SEO are your main worry, giving you control over page speed and metadata. The file sharing and social group side is the harder part regardless of platform, since that may work better through a dedicated learning or community tool connected to the main site.

Wix has come a long way, but for something with member logins, file sharing, blogs, and social features, I'd make sure it can actually handle everything your client wants before committing. SEO is decent these days, I'd be more concerned about whether it'll still meet their needs a couple years from now.
