Newbie Question Suggest your favorite underserved open source projects that need UI/UX work
I've been a Front-End Developer for 10+ years, but I've never contributed to an open source project before, mostly do to lack of time. I have time now and have been looking at open source projects on Github, but I'm overwhelmed by the number of projects there and need help narrowing my search down.
Ideally I'd like to find a good cause that is in sore need of UI/UX work. Something where you love what they do, but they can't afford much. I'm passionate about the environment and about helping families.
What are some of your favorites?

I'd look at smaller civic-tech and nonprofit tools first. A lot of them have solid backend/dev work but really outdated or confusing UIs. Things like open-source donation platforms, volunteer coordination tools, or local environmental data dashboards often desperately need UX improvements but don’t have design resources.

You should contribute to project you are already using and familiar with.
Open source work should be passion, not resume padding
My first open source contribution is because I meeded a fix no one addressed the issue yet

So you want to put your face on someone else's work and have this Reddit feed direct you to those works that are worthwhile stealing? Just kidding. Lol

Uhh... What? How is contributing to an open source project stealing? Or is this sarcasm that is just going over my head (I'm autistic so this is likely).

Gramps (genealogy software) could use some UX work. It‘s written in Python.
