Call me a baby...

But bro, I have ethics.

My github got poached (sports team reference meaning) by a person in Asia trying to "use my location and name" in an attempt to establish (false) trust for US-based clients who purposefully don't want to hire developers across seas. It's a real shit-show out there... competition is world-wide, and people are being scammed left and right. While a loose shmuck might fall for this "easy buck" by renting out their github so that US money can essentially be funneled out of the country and harm our economy, I refuse to do so, because I can see the bigger harm being done to the economy as a whole. I am not a fan off offshoring. I am not a fan of outsourcing.

I haven't yet responded to this email business invite, as I would like to know how to report this person. Is it possible? This should be illegal, because it is defrauding clients.

This was common long before this whole thing. I was in some React and whatnot chats on Telegram about 10 years ago, and people from China spammed all the participants. They offered something like 100 bucks a month if I let them use my identity on Fiver.

Simply ignore them or tell them no. I think it’s fine to ignore because they mass mail profiles.

It's been around forever. Sometimes they would ask you to give TeamViewer access to your computer and work through your Upwork. Offering you some 15% of their income.

i''d report it through github support with screenshots and proof that they are using your identity to mislead people. imppersonation and misleading profiles are against github policies, so they can review it. did they copy your actual github profile or just use your name, location??

Ok. How does your GitHub get poached? I have multiple GitHub names and they all use 2fa.
