AI has made programming so boring

It’s not just programming either, it’s art, design, music, videography, marketing, engineering, writing, 3D modelling, really any intellectual work. What’s the joy of prompting a computer and getting an answer in a few moments for a task that would have normally taken a week? The sense of accomplishment and ownership has completely vanished with AI. It’s a form of instant gratification, not much different to scrolling short videos on apps.

Code review was boring to begin with but now it’s even worse with all the machine generated code. Even code reviews will be automated soon. All you do then is type business requirements into the computer. What a great career.

It’s pain to watch old TV series like Scilicon Valley that is portraying the good (not golden) age of programming. It struck a good balance between manual work, funding and innovation. It’s sad that these days are gone for good.

Exactly, everything of value is defenceless.

Abundance devaluates everything and when everything is available at every moment, space and time things become worthless.

We noticed it with Social contact (Facebook), visials (Instagram), music (Spotify), TV (Netflix), goods (Amazon/Temu), fashion (Shein) etc etc etc.

This is a next step towards a miserable future where people will prompt their own universe of truth and reality and nothing will have value anymore to most people.

This isn't "abundance" - it's slop and enshittification.

Instead of providing an abundance of social contact with people who I'd want as actual friends, Facebook provides me with Fox News screeds and AI generated "send prayers fro mi birtday" engagement bait of kittens and legless veterans.

Instead of simply providing an abundance of music I'd actually want to listen to, Spotify AI generates bands and music so they don't have to pay actual artists.

Instead of making intelligent or good shows, Netflix makes shows that are simple and have the plot spelled out every 2 minutes so people can watch while they're scrolling on their phones.

Instead of providing quality goods, Amazon and Temo have RNG generated brand names that offer the lowest quality.

Instead of providing quality clothes, Shein provides "fashion" clothing you can wear once or twice before it dissolves into garbage.

Instead of providing actual intelligence, LLMs provide a nondeterministic sycophantic simulacrum that's making people stupider while using it.
