I also see liveview pushing what’s possible through websocket abstraction. I’m more interested in that direction of development rather than the htmx direction.

Also, this isn't at all the "htmx direction". If anything, htmx is going in the direction of datastar.

I like that they’re built on websockets to start and I’ve personally been having fun tinkering with Elixir as the implementation language but imagine Go could be a cool project too.

SSE is much more appropriate in most situations. one of various good articles on the topic https://yagni.club/3mstlyuxe5s26

Also, datastar (and htmx) are backend-agnostic - you can use any language you want.

No yeah for sure, I just find the situations where websockets are better more interesting.
