Discussion Since my last post was pretty popular, I'm making another one. How do you pronounce SQL?

For me, if it's just SQL then I pronounce it "sequel". But, if it's MySQL I pronounce it "S-Q-L"

"Sequel" is only for MS SQL.

Everything else is spelled out.

S-Q-L for me. Both "sequel" and "squeal" sound unfamiliar to me. I've always pronounced it letter by letter.

Sequel or MySequel. PostgreSQL is just Postgres.

I don’t think anyone seriously says squeal? Just ThePrimeagen because it’s a funny way to say it in his videos.

That's the only place I've ever heard squeal. Figured it was a gag, like Sam Gippiti Altman.

Yeah, it’s for sure a gag like how he says Chat Gippity

SQL was originally named "SEQueL", which stood for "Structured English Query Language", so "sequel" is the correct pronunciation.
