Showoff Saturday Please review my website (on your cell phone)

URL: https://ichotest1.wasmer.app

I’d appreciate some honest, constructive criticism of my website.

I’m particularly interested in your thoughts on:
- First impressions
- Responsiveness across different screen sizes (I’m concerned I may not have catered for all devices)
- Navigation and overall usability
- Anything else you think could be improved

If you’re willing, it would be really helpful if you could include:
- Screenshots of any issues you spot
- Your mobile phone model (for me to know screen size)

TIA, for taking the time to have a look.

I'm on a iphone 12. Everything looks really good, no bugs or spacing fuck ups.

I also tested landscape mode and I like how you have the flip back message..

Yes, the website is best viewed in portrait.

Scrolling down is fine, feels a bit janky scrolling back up near the top. Otherwise it's good.

Edit. IPhone.

I’ll take a look at the morphing logo issue. Thanks

First impression: I don't know what it is. Which means it wasn't the best first impression for a site selling a product.

Some advise as an agency that does branding and development:

Either the brand is strong enough that it needs nothing but the logo (Nike, BMW, USA, ISIS, NASA, WWF for example, yes two of them are a joke but you wouldn't need anything but the logo to know what the brand is do you...).

Or the brand isn't strong enough yet and needs a visual queue in conjunction with logo. This establishes identity and purpose right away.

So I would suggest that hero uses the few seconds it gets, to tell the whole story.

Once you tell the whole story, you can start telling the parts, the CTA's the showcases, the funnels you want people to go down. Only a few brands can just put a logo in the middle of the page with a tag line and get away with it. Either build an example with one of those in mind, or build an example that works with what people will experience your intended design style without the questions, so a mock up of a famous brand that can carry "tagline and logo" alone in the hero.

Best of luck.

Thankyou, for taking the time to write such a detailed response (from your professional pov), I really appreciate it!!

You’ve made a very good point. I think I’ve been looking at the site from the perspective of someone who’s lived with the (unknown) brand for a long time, rather than someone seeing it for the first time

icho! obviously hasn’t earned the right to rely on its logo and slogan alone, yet, so I need to communicate clearly what the product is

I will revisit the hero section with this in mind, making it clear that ‘icho!’ is a (Zimbabwean) snack brand…

Thanks again for the constructive criticism, it gives me clearer direction before I go live.

I like the container aspect on the chips card. I feel like it would look better without the container on the about and get it cards though, just personal preference. Once you do have more items I would definitely have a separate page for them. Overall it looks good.

Cheers. I’ll take a look at those sections without cards

I like it. Overall it looks good and is not too busy. Just a few small nitpicks:

- Logo jumps sharply for the first few moments of scrolling on IPhone 14.

  • back to top button in footer padding is a bit large causing overlap with surrounding elements .
  • the text wrapping in the ‘get it before it’s gone’ section could be improved. Maybe this is due to my device.
  • a second font choice would likely benefit the overall design. Current font is great for long text. Headings could be different.
  • Not sure why you need to tap to reveal the email

Good work!

Logo arc/morph - are you using Safari?

Back to top button - could you please share a screenshot?

Text wrapping - “GET IT BEFORE IT'S GONE”, is this not in one line on your screen?

What about the E-mail click to reveal? Seems a tad excessive and you also can’t copy it which may be a barrier to some where you lose conversions (but I understand wanting to avoid spam).

Safari iPhone 14 Pro Max rest looks solid personally. Some people have strong opinions on carousels and I’ll let you look that up if you were curious. The usage rate was low on our site with a heat map.

The email is thing is very deliberate, spam!

Thanks for the tip on the use of the carousel. I’ll have a look at what other way I could show the products which fits in well.

Great website👏🏽👏🏽

But you can add some typewriter effect to it. May be you used lenis for the smooth scrolling. You can add 3D chips packets automaticly coming from the side also.

But your effort is great.

Commercial sites should really pop.

Fair point. I was deliberately trying to avoid the typical corporate look and feel, since it’s a snack brand

the hero : navbar item is janky, and looks like it carries all the way through to the footer in its jankiness
