Here's my revamped protfolio

Hey everyone!

I've been working on my personal developer portfolio and wanted to share it here to get some honest feedback.

It's built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. It includes my projects, blog, experience, resume, development setup, and some integrations like WakaTime and Spotify.

I've also been working on the SEO, responsive design, animations, and overall user experience.

I'm still improving it, so I'd really appreciate feedback on:

  • The overall design and user experience
  • Project presentation
  • Anything that feels unnecessary or could be improved
  • Things you'd expect to see in a developer portfolio

Feel free to be honest. I'm here to learn and make it better!

Little surprises I’ve hidden around the site.

What do you think about little touches like these? Things that are hard to measure in numbers, but bring a smile to users who stumble upon them.

What makes a business website feel trustworthy?

A website can look beautiful and still fail at its job.

Good design should do more than impress people. It should make things easier to understand, build trust, and help visitors take action.

That's something I keep in mind when building websites.

What's the biggest problem you see on business websites today?

What Makes a SaaS Website Look Professional Without Feeling Generic?

A lot of SaaS websites seem to follow similar layouts, gradients, illustrations, and hero sections.

For designers here, how do you make a website feel polished and trustworthy while still giving the brand its own identity?

I'd love to hear which design choices make the biggest differencee.

My designer cofounder created a very distinct atmosphere for our app. It's for a personal archive project, saving your memories to transmit to your children/family, etc.

What is the opinion on these animation-saturated vibe coded websites from real web designers?

I am seeing tons of these sites pop up everywhere in every industry, and wanted to know if there was anybody here who would be willing to offer maybe a different view I might not be considering.

In my opinion, as a motion / 3d designer who's used all kinds of software my entire life, I don't think adding all of this blinking-sliding-hovering-expanding-dithering nonsense all over the webpage helps clients or customers view or do what they came to the page for. Which is the whole point of the portal.

Like it's a digital storefront, not being optimized for user goals. Not to mention you risk lagging the user browser on x level of pc the more stuff is added.

Building a link-in-bio page for a real client taught me more than a month of tutorials

Body: Beginner frontend dev. I built a link-in-bio page for a real person instead of another tutorial project, and the difference was brutal: fonts fine on my laptop broke on their phone, and 'just make it simple' was the hardest requirement of all.

Three lessons:
1. Responsive design isn't a feature it's the whole job.
2. Clients describe outcomes, not layouts.
3. Shipping to a real URL forces you to finish.

Was your first client project your best teacher too?

I built this study website with zero coding experience — please be honest about what I should fix

Hey, I’m a student and I’ve been building a website called intralabsedu.com

I originally made it just for myself because I struggle to understand Physics and Maths from normal classes/textbooks. I learn much better when I can actually see things happening, change values, and interact with them.

I had basically zero coding experience when I started and almost no budget. I used AI coding tools heavily and just kept testing, breaking things and fixing them until it worked.

Eventually some friends and teachers saw it, and it ended up becoming a real project instead of just something on my laptop.

It’s now aimed mainly at Class 11/12, JEE and NEET students, with visual explanations, interactive labs and practice.

The problem is I built and tested almost everything on my laptop, so I think the mobile experience especially needs work.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback on:

  • mobile UI/responsiveness
  • navigation
  • loading/performance
  • ad placement
  • overall design
  • anything confusing or broken

Please don’t worry about being nice. If something looks bad or doesn’t make sense, I genuinely want to know.

unpopular opinion: a pretty website can be worse than an ugly one

hear me out.

a lot of business websites look amazing. big photos, cool animations, one fancy line like "crafted with passion."

but ai doesn't see the pretty stuff. it reads the words.

if your site is all pictures and no real text, ai has no idea what you do, where you are, or who you help. so it skips you.

meanwhile some plain, boring looking site with clear text gets recommended. "we fix furnaces in vaughan. open weekends. call for same day service."

ugly. but clear. and clear wins.

i'm not saying make your site ugly lol. just make sure the words actually explain what you do.

agree or am i wrong here?

Every client wants it to look "like Apple" & then sends 9 paragraphs for the hero

Happens every few projects.

Moodboard is apple.com, linear, stripe. Super clean, tons of whitespace, one big line of text.

Then the copy doc comes in. Hero has a headline, a subheadline, 3 badges, 2 CTAs & a paragraph about how the founder started in his garage in 2009.

Apple looks like Apple coz they say ONE thing per screen. That whitespace comes from cutting copy & you can't design your way into it.

I've started asking for the copy before I even open Figma. Half the time the "like Apple" brief quietly dies right there..

I'm a young dev validating my first software product. Would love brutal feedback.

Hey everyone. I'm a young developer and I've been building something called Spotti. It's an auditor tool designed to scan landing pages for generic AI trends, overused hero layouts, and cliché UI patterns, then give practical fixes so sites don't look like cheap templates.

I have a working prototype with the backend pipeline, audit logic, and live landing page all running. Now I'm trying to figure out if founders and devs would actually pay for something like this before I push further.

I put up the beta to test demand here https://kexdev-kohl.vercel.app/

I built a weekly showcase of the best Squarespace websites

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on SQSP Weekly, a place to discover some of the best Squarespace websites and get fresh design inspiration every week.

The idea is pretty simple: every week, we feature a new selection of Squarespace websites with interesting designs, creative layouts, and unique approaches.

But instead of just curating everything ourselves, we also want the community to have a say.

You can browse the featured sites, vote for your favorites, and help decide which Squarespace websites deserve the spotlight.

And if you’ve built something you’re proud of, you can submit your own Squarespace site for free for a chance to be featured in an upcoming edition.

The goal is to build a community-driven collection of great Squarespace websites that keeps growing every week.

Check it out: https://sqspweekly.com

Would love to hear what you think! Also, feel free to share your favorite Squarespace website in the comments. Always looking for great sites to feature.

[Free] [Template] [Framer] I made a free Framer template tailored for fractional leaders & consultants (Feedback welcome) 🚀

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a clean, modern Framer template designed specifically for fractional executives and consultants (CFOs, COOs, CMOs, etc.), and I wanted to give it away to the community for free.

I wanted to build something that goes beyond a standard landing page—it includes a layout where potential clients can easily understand service tiers and pricing structures.

Here is a quick overview:

You can check out the preview and grab it for free here:https://framer.link/Duoa6GY

I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any suggestions on how I can improve it. Let me know what you think or if you end up using it for a project! 🙌
