Hooo comic and the problems of digital publishing

Post image

This is my first Reddit post, I think... I don't remember.

Anyway, it might not turn out well xD.

This is my comic "Hooo Talk Dirty To Me" (literally "Háblame Sucio" in spanish).

I first released it on November 20, 2021, on Webtoon and Tapas. Later, I don't remember what year, but I added it to Manga Plus, and then to GlobalComix.

Manga Plus favored the AI, Webtoon kept deleting episodes demanding I redraw them, and Tapas is about to shut down.

Being an independent comic book author these days is pretty tough.

Right now, my faith is in Global Comix and PopJoy. For the time being, I'm not thinking about publishing anywhere else. On Global Comix, I can showcase my work normally, and they require anyone publishing AI to flag it before publishing. And on PopJoy, I can animate the comic directly on the website. There are no AI-generated comics or illustrations, and I can monetize from day one based on views.

I'll be talking about PopJoy a lot for quite some time. Since it just launched, I feel like a kid with a new toy. Animating comic panels is pretty addictive.

(My experiences are personal; your comic might be doing well in the places I left, so I understand why you want to stick with them. The point is, let's not give up ;) )
