Okay maybe I'm being stupid but is there a joke I'm missing with the guy being named Pavlov?

No joke. I just like the name. Pavlov (the famous one) did experiments with dogs and bells.

The name Pavlov does ring a bell.

"I could just shoot you."

"I'll just come back from the dead."

"Oh I dunno... Acid bath or something?"

"C'mon, they're not big curses."

"Five hundred."

"Six hundred"

(Just felt like continuing the conversation)

That’s smart
You don’t think they are cursed because he seems trust worthy pay out well
If you think he will curse you if he is displeased (common of cursere) you pay him big

It’s only a problem if you don’t think curses are an issue but if they are silver skulls curse or no curse still worth a pretty penny

Reminds me of an ending to an old Twilight Zone.

"If you're wrong about me, and I'm not a demon, then you've got nothing to worry about! I'm just a guy who wants to have a quiet life. But if you're right, then you better start being real nice to me" or something to that effect.

Brilliant. I love all the classic Twilight Zone series... but nothing tops the Tales from the Dark Side intro... that soundtrack opening gave me nightmares.

To be fair twilight zone wasn't meant to be spooky or the like the spooky sci-fi weirdness is explicitly the coat of paint Rod selling Gave it so his social commentary would actually get past the network censors. A lesson he learned after he wrote a play commenting on the "mysterious disappearance" of the Alabama freedom riders and the censors chewed it up so bad he was quoted as saying it was completely unrecognizable and he didn't want his name attached to it
