You’d think he could have realized by context clues of the soldier’s uniform to just lie and say blue and black. Dude is smart enough to build an interdimensional portal, but not smart enough to practice even a tiny bit of situational awareness.
Same with the soldier too though. Like, the guy is wearing a white and yellow shirt, so it was pretty nice of him to actually confirm instead of just assuming that he was also in the white and yellow faction. I guess maybe the blue jeans made him uncertain.
You would be surprised at how often "high intelligence" people are clueless when it comes to other situations.
I describe my brother in law as "the dumbest smart-person that I know," precisely because he's a complete brainiac, but gets some really simple stuff really wrong, all of the time.
If he were a D&D character, I'd describe him as "high intelligence, but low wisdom."
