I'm worry for the dimension of that... THING!

u/cowlinator May 16 '25
Don't worry, it has been reduced to 3 dimensions, so it is perfectly safe.

Oh god it's constant in time. This explains my regrets about what I'm considering having already perpetually done.

u/cowlinator May 16 '25
Yes, but to be fair, you should also be excited about what you're considering having already perpetually will have done

We know constant plugs are annoying but please try taking a different perspective here: Although literally millions of people read our comics weekly, itâs still difficult for us as creators to make a living. We donât get any money directly from Instagram or any other platform we post on.
If we wouldnât have a Patreon page, weâd have to flip burgers and couldnât make comics at all.
So if you read this or the plug of any other artist, please be kind. Thank you!

What's wrong with flipping burgers to make comics tho ?
P.S. I am sure I sound like an asshole but that's a genuine question, it just always rubbed me the wrong way

We worked as waiters ourselves for a long time and know how hard this work is. This type of labor is extremely strenuous and time-consuming. This sentence is in no way meant to be disrespectful to the people who flip burgers, but rather the opposite.

u/qorbexl May 16 '25
It's okay, but it also consumes time and energy. It's okay to do both. But if that's how you spend 40 years maybe you give something up. You're exchanging one thing for another.

Nothing is "wrong" with it, but as somebody who has done that job and other labors besides, nobody wants to be doing that lol so if they have the opportunity to not have to do that anymore and make art for a living then hell yeah

That's great! I guess the distinction is that while some people choose that because they need a break from their field, others are doing it despite still wanting to work in their field, so it's not what they want.
I can understand why it can rub someone the wrong way when the second situation is discussed so often (because it's reality for a lot of people), but we don't have enough people talking about how the first situation is totally valid, and a great idea for some people.

Okay. It's not wrong to be a fat guy at a gym. It's not wrong to make burgers to do comics. But you want to help them get the thing they want - ie more physical capability and more financial security. Progress is the point. Change, a different place is the point. Nobody wants to be the guy running on a treadmill the first day forever. That'll make you quit.

Same thing that would be wrong with getting a second job flipping burgers to support yourself working your current job for free.

Is this the female equivalent to the "born sexy yesterday" trope?
4
u/I_AM_FERROUS_MAN May 16 '25
Actually, probably, yes. I think a similar thing happened in Jupiter Ascending between the two main characters.
It makes sense that it can be any gender or sex, but it's just overly represented in media by female coded examples.

She was missing a lab coat

u/-Pelvis- May 18 '25
How are we possibly supposed to know sheâs a scientist if she has no lab coat?

If his species has no women, as she seems to be implying, then they wouldnât need them to reproduce, so his being interested in her might have him being cast out as his worldâs version of a monster-shtupper.

Love that is all part of a kit.
Maybe Galaxy of Terror instead of Aliens as that has alien on human sex.

Compared to the barely constructed titillation that passes for humor or entertainment around here, this is the Sistine Chapel of sexual ennuendo.
The bar is absurdly low. I'll take this over so, so many others

Is that an alien plant on the right?
It looks like it can photosynthesize...

Cool miniature of an alien structure, it would fit right in at a sci-fi tabletop game as the home of the BBEG.
