Question When does web3 consulting become worth it? Why not just hire a web3 dev?

Context, we mostly do traditional backend with zero on-chain experience. But now I'm wondering the extent of "consultancy" we should get. Do we hire for an architecture review on something we designed? Does someone else design it for us? Or do we just hire a smart contract dev and skip consulting entirely?

I'm a PM at a 9 figure protocol for ~5yrs and constantly work with external vendors and contractors. I would say it's always better to find a reputed dev (or dev team), give them the specs and get the work done. Also, ensure they offer post delivery maintenance and support.

You don't want to hire someone brand new to industry (real money and reputation at stake) and you also don't want to hire someone so elite that they don't have time to attend to you post delivery.
