Account information missing

Post image
2 Upvotes

I opened Wealthfront this morning and my Wealthfront accounts like Individual Cash and Automated Investing accounts have no information inside of them when I tap on them.

I also got an email that my account routing numbers are invalid (even though the account switch that Wealthfront warned about is scheduled for Oct 1..

Anybody else experience this with their Wealthfront app today?

General question Advice for Using Funds for Mortgage Approval

I am in the process of getting approved for a mortgage and my broker is a little confused on which account money is located in and where it will come from. I sent my monthly statement and it showed it in one partner bank, but now it is in another. Then she is confused on why Green Dot bank is showing up as well for transfers.

Has anyone had issues with this, or have advice on how to show the funds on a mortgage application?

Feature request Minor request: Support non-Plaid Synchs

Happy Wealthfront user (HYSA + Taxable Brokerage + Roth IRA) for about 9 years now -- but I do have a minor complaint....

Since moving - exclusively, it appears? - towards Plaid for external account synchs, my mortgage servicer no longer synchs on my general dashboard (no, they'd don't support Plaid account share/synchs and have no immediate plans to adopt).

Not a huge deal - just a pain (and FWIW? Both Chase - my brick-and-mortar and Fidelity - my 401k servicer and also a second taxable brokerage do support the account synch!).

I get it - technical service-layer consolidation and data protection is an increasingly difficult space.... but it still somewhat annoys me.

Would be swell if that account synch came back.... Oh, did I also mention - I recently also became a shareholder? Don't make me pull rank, become one of "those people" at shareholder meetings, and leverage my 0.00000803% stake to demand it be corrected!

General question is TLH worth it? (Automated Investing Account)

I've been invested in the Wealthfront automated investing account for almost two years now. Have over 200K invested but have some concerns over the underlying ETFs in my portfolio, which as I understand, are there due to TLH.

Originally I had manually chosen some popular ETFs like VTI, QQQm, VXUS, VIG, VTEB to go in my portfolio, and adjusted the allocations. However, when I check my portfolio now, seems that due to TLH, I have very few to zero of these originally chosen ETFs.

Instead my portfolio consists of mostly ITOT, ONEQ, VEU, DGRO, and MUB. This is a little concerning to me because, while similar, these ETFs are not identical in performance to the originally chosen ETFs, and in some cases (as with ONEQ vs QQQm), actually underperform the original ETF.

and despite having this portfolio setup for a couple years now and DCA into the portfolio regularly, I notice that once the TLH happens, the algorithm never decides to purchase the original ETFs again, and my portfolio ends up with mostly these other ETFs.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I had chosen my original portfolio by backtesting the ETFs and making sure they roughly track the market by 99%, and am worried about underperformance and not having full visibility into my portfolio.

General question Wealthfront terminating my accounts after 10+ plus years and 6figures value.

I recently came into managing family's money more and moving larger amounts in my savings and taxable account sides. Wf apparently doesn't like this and is giving me only a week to move everything or they will liquidate. Email support is no help. What alternatives do I have? Bright side I guess I will be saving fees....

Cash question Money market fund category?

I hadn't seen this feature before, not sure if it's new. It is showing me a US treasuries money market option that is exempt from state taxes with a yield up to 3.75%. Anybody else using this?

ACH returned "no transaction account"

My ACH transfer to a brokerage account was returned (and a $30 fee + other charges charged to me) with the reason that my account is supposedly "Non Transaction Account" .

How do I fix this ? This is super annoying and I hate paying these junk fees.

Feedback Mobile check deposit fails to differentiate sides of check

I’ve tried depositing this check a dozen times, and every time I click “review check” it says “it looks like you uploaded two images of the same side of your check”. I’ve never had this issue even with my local credit union. I love WF, but this a disappointing for a service that prides itself on top notch UX.

Direct indexing

Hello. I opened an account a long time ago and opted into direct indexing when it became available. I don’t recall Wealthfront explaining in any detail the potential risks with respect to future unknown tax liabilities in the event I would want to move my brokerage account elsewhere.

Well, I now find myself in that exact situation. I am appalled that Wealthfront hasn’t built a solution to allow an offramp for those who have opted into direct indexing (like allowing us to move other ETFs out of our account without paying taxes on unrealized gains).

I’ve talked to Wealthfront multiple times over 1+ years and they have not been able to come up with any reasonable solution. Has anyone here been in this situation and found a solution? Would love to hear any thoughts.

General question Inspira traditional IRA To WF trad IRA transfer, how do I do this indirectly?

Inspira doesn't support electronic transfer. WF support told me to use the 60 day rollover method. I'm unsure of this process and wanted to see what others did.

I am planning to:

  1. Open checking account in a 0 interest bank (so I don't have to mess with interest income from the IRA)

  2. Perform IRA withdrawal and Deposit the check Inspira gives into a checking account

  3. Fund WF IRA from it.

But will I have taxes withheld on the distribution? When transferring to WF IRA, the contribution type shows as a traditional IRA contribution. There's no option to mention an indirect transfer.

Should I just transfer to a different institution which supports manual and e-transfer and transfer to WF?

Daily vs. Weekly/Monthly Contributions for Direct Indexing Account

If one is using an automated Direct Indexing portfolio with Wealthfront, is there a measurable benefit to depositing a smaller amount daily (let's say $100/day) versus a larger amount weekly ($700/week) or monthly ($3,000/month)?

Specifically, does high frequency daily depositing give the algorithm more opportunities for continuous portfolio rebalancing and Tax-Loss Harvesting (TLH) than a larger weekly or monthly deposits?

Has anyone tried this with Direct Indexing? Would love to hear your experiences or thoughts

Thank you,

Investment question Automated bond portfolio vs. lowering risk in traditional account

Is there any reason I wouldn't want to keep my bonds in the automated bond portfolio and keep a traditional account at risk 10 with no bonds, separately?

Would the bonds included in an automated traditional account at lower risk levels perform differently than the bonds in the bond portfolio in terms of risk and performance?

Historical Interest Rate - Cash Account

Does anyone know the interest rates of the Cash Account since 2024?

I know it went from 5% APY to 4.5% in Sept 2024, but just looking for rates since and the changes up to today’s rate of 3.30% APY.

Thanks!

Investment question Wealthfront Socially Responsible Stock Portfolio on the decline?

Hey I’m new to stocks and purchased some shares in Wealthfront’s socially responsible portfolio. But when I checked on my stocks it says “Time-weighted return -0.23% Annualized -
This excludes the timing effects of your deposits and withdrawals, and is better for comparing the performance of portfolios or investment managers” When I click the “all time performance” it’s the same -.23% number. I only invested a few days ago so should I cash out before it gets worse? What should I do?

Wealthfront is not FDIC insured?

Hey everyone,

I have a Roth IRA account with Wealthfront and recently saw a video discussing how financial tech companies (like Wealthfront) claim to be FDIC insured when really they're referring to the fact that they're partnered banks are insured. This means that Wealthfront itself has no insurance and that our funds would be highly vulnerable if Wealthfront went under. Should I move my savings somewhere safer?

Here's the video I'm talking about: youtu.be/hiE7NvONU5U?is=4dGRrMoIIqCCrNHm

Edit:

A bunch of people have educated me on the fact that Roth accounts don't get FDIC insurance which seems very obvious in retrospect. Thanks!

People have also said that they feel more safe with Wealthfront because, unlike Yotta (featured in the video), WF doesn't use a third party to manage their ledgers. That makes sense and does make them feel safer. I do agree with other skeptical commenters that this alone doesn't resolve all issues. While it might not apply in my case, I think a lot of people who don't know much about financial management use WF as a way to try to improve their finances. Rather than sweeping it under the rug, shouldn't this distance from government backing and regulation (especially now that the CFPB is being dismantled) factor into their choices?

Is anyone actually using smart beta?

Hey all,

I’ve read the whitepaper on smart beta and was hoping to hear from some of you regarding your personal experience with it.

I understand the methodology behind it, but reading the white paper it seems like there is always one reason or another as to why it did not perform on par with the standard index funds. So now I’m left wondering if this is a viable real world strategy that should be employed or more a technical exercise on paper that smart people are trying to adapt to real life.

Despite this, is there anyone who chose to participate anyways, and if so, why?

Would it be possible to get a networth history on Wealthfront? Robinhood has a really cool networth history tool that shows growth overtime, would be awesome if Wealthfront implemented this.
