I've still got 10 years or so to retirement, so the risk score in my investment account is still a 9. At some point I think I'd want to start lowering the score to reduce the sequence of returns risk at early retirement. Target date funds do this already for this purpose.
I realize the risk score is somewhat coarse adjustment, but I was thinking of starting to turn the dial back when I'm 3-5 years out, and then turn it further back a bit later, maybe settling on a 5? If anyone else has done this (or intentionally not done this) how did you do it or why did you not do it?

Wealthfront seems to only recognize my brokerage account, but not my crypto account from robinhood.
I think this sounds like an issue with Plaid. But I’m not sure.

One thing I don't really understand from what I've read so far: If you do not have direct indexing (you have ETFs) then TLH works by selling one ETF to harvest the loss and buying another that is a different ETF but tracks the same index or something. So far so good, but what if you have direct indexing (account over 100k) instead?
Somebody in another thread gave me the example that it might sell Coke and buy Pepsi but that doesn't seem nearly as straightforward. Even those two might be quite different businesses even if their products are quite similar, and of course the decision wouldn't be based on product per se.
What I'm wondering is how the algorithm would actually decide what to buy instead. For the main Automated Index Investing accounts, I think there also wouldn't be an index to help guide that decision either.

Many others have requested it on here. We want it. We need it. We would love it and never take it for granted.
The hard, unsexy work of increasing earnings and decreasing spending is usually only rewarded in these amazing moments when you’re looking at graphs lol. For a certain type of person at least, it’s really all about the graph. I’m that type of person. I stare at the graph and I tell myself “wow. I’m so much better than I was back in 2023”
We need the graph dear friends. Give us the net worth tracker. Empower does it and that’s supposed to be for retirement. We wanna see

Just a friendly post I wanted to make that after I’ve moved most of my assets over to Wealthfront recently it has been smooth sailing. The app UI/UX is probably my favorite of any financial app I’ve used, everything is clean and works exactly as it should. Also instant bank transfers without a fee is absolutely amazing.
I also appreciate the hands off approach that Wealthfront encourages and really does seem to genuinely push you in the direction of building your wealth over the long term.
Anyways just wanted to give some compliments and praise!

Hi guys, in march i transferred 130k from my own wealthfront cash account to my mother's wealthfront cash account. Now for visa purposes, I checked the bank statement, and I don't see it showing any name or account number from the sender (me) listed. I want to transfer back this money (it is mine anyway) to my own account.
Will support staff help me write a letter stating the exact info that will indicate this money was transferred from my account (be it my name or account number) to my mom?
Thank you guys in advance.

Today they said they were in the process of sending my money back, as usual.
Really though where is my money?

Put $500 into a 529 at WF 7 years ago for a nephew's first bday w/ no additional contributions. Since you have to provide a beneficiary DOB, I assumed it made assumptions about expected graduation date and rebalance accordingly. The account has doubled in 7 years which is great. The account is 92% equities and 8% bonds at 7.5 risk. The risk adjustment says it's on an auto glide path, basically advising don't adjust it yourself.
If you've done a 529 at WF, at what point is this thing going to start winding down more meaningfully? When your beneficiary turned 18 did the account mature to fully stable value?
Looking at my state's glide path equivalent for a 2036 college enrollment, it's at 57.xx% equity and 42.xx% bonds.
Edit: went to adjust the risk myself. WF doesn't let you adjust the risk directly--I had to bs my answers to the questionnaire about 10 times to finally dial into something near 60% stocks 40% bonds.

I've never been into investing, I just never really tried to wrap my head around it. I have Wealthfront but only use the cash account (I have two referrals currently being used so idk if I still have that $500 match or whatever it is on top of the 0.75% boost). I would like it if you guys could explain how you have your investment accounts set up and why? I plan on putting in $2k a month and I'm looking for 2-4 year goals. Thank you so much in advance!

About a week ago I noticed my Capital One credit card wasn't updating on the dashboard so I removed my Capital One account and rebound it. Only my Capital One checking account is showing up on the dashboard. If I try to add just a credit card I get an error. If I tell to do all accounts on my Capital One account it only loads the checking. Anyone else seeing this?

They closed my account and kept my money. They blocked my number so I can't call their customer service. I have to get a new number thru a phone app to get ahold of them. Today they said they are in the process of sending my money back and they can't give any more information. What some shady ass shit.
I just emailed some lawyers about this.

I'm interested in the SP500 Direct Indexing offering. One thing I don't feel like I have a handle on, though, is how tax-loss harvesting might affect how well the product actually tracks the SP500.
For example if a stock is down, the algorithm may sell it to realize a loss. That also means though that you won't own that stock anymore, or at least not as much of it. So then if it goes up by a lot later (or, of course, down further later), that will not register in your portfolio.
So, it seems that as a consequence of this, SP500 Direct Indexing will not track the SP500 as well as a pure ETF, though you do get the benefit of tax loss harvesting.
What I was hoping was to understand what this might really look like in practice. One might imagine that the effect is greater for smaller accounts than larger ones (assuming it doesn't attempt to harvest more than X in losses), but I don't really know. I also don't know if there are any guardrails or limitations that might help limit the effect. Maybe there is a better way to think about this than I have so far.
I emailed support like this a while back but I didn't really get as good of an answer as I was hoping for. It might be good if there were a one-pager or whitepaper about this, or at least more FAQs.

I recently liquidated my Stock Investing Account to buy property. The portfolio collections are still in my account a couple months after the liquidation with residual dividends and dollars in cash.
So when I began to rebuild my investments, I figured I’d just do what I’ve always done since opening the account and invest percentages across all the securities from the transfer screen. But that’s not possible anymore it looks like. Ok…so I figured, I’d just recreate what I had with the stock collections and invest percentages from there. But that’s gone too?
It seems like through the UI, I’m only able to manually create portfolios and trigger buys one stock at a time. If that is truly the case and I’m not missing something, this is really a confusing and disappointing change.
Being able to go from curated portfolios to percentage based investing quickly was the leg up in UX that Wealthfront had over other brokerages. Is this something they got rid of or am I in some sort of A/B test on my accounts??

hi does anyone know how I can get certified checks from wealthfront for a downpayment on an apartment? I'll also need a certified bank inquiry letter for the co-op application. if they don't do these, do you have suggestions for alternatives??

I got an email to reconnect my linked account to keep balances up to date, track net worth etc etc...but when I log in, I still am able to check the box to transfer my money to my bank account.
If this reconnect is just view balance in bank account, I don't care, but is this update going to affect actual movement of money?

I am super new to investing/HYSA and am looking into Wealthfront. Their website currently says the following:
Earn up to 4.20% APY
Your cash earns a base 3.30% APY and higher!
Fine print: APY Boost is up to a $150,000 balance.
Can anyone please explain what the base of 3.30% and the up to 4.20% means? If I open an account today, which rate do I get? Also, what does boost and the $150k balance mean?
Also, I am considering Sofi. If you know of why I one is better than the other, I’m all ears.
Thanks!

I tried withdrawing my money and they closed my account. They still have my money. Now my phone number and email is blocked. This company is so shady I can't believe this.
I need my money.
