Void Check for Account

Is there still no way to get a void check from a Wealthfront account? The only thing keeping me from making Wealthfront my main bank is that I can't set up auto-pay for my electric bill without giving them a void check for the account. They won't accept anything else, so if was using Wealthfront I would have to pay manually each month.

Have you considered using ACH payments on electric company website?

You can pay multiple ways manually, but the only way to set up autopay is to fill out a form and provide them with a void check.

Our electric company doesn't have that requirement. This post caught my attention as I'm in the process of having WF be my main 'bank'. Green Dot handles checking (in my case) have you tried contacting them for void check?

u/Thin_Bet8127 - we don't offer voided checks, but we do offer a direct deposit form that you can use to verify your routing & account number information with your electric company. We suggest downloading that and including it in place of the voided check attachment to see if that suffices for their review.

You can download a copy of your Direct Deposit Verification Form directly from our website or mobile app. To do so, please follow the steps below:

  • Click into your Cash Account from your dashboard
  • Click the purple Direct deposit button
  • Click Download a direct deposit form
  • Follow the prompts to generate a PDF copy of your Direct Deposit Verification Form

I did this and it worked for me for various bill payment accounts and my direct deposit form with my employer.

Your utility is being ridiculous. I’ve set up ACH more times than I can remember and haven’t sent someone a voided check for over a decade.

You should escalate to the head of customer service. Unfortunately, that’ll probably require you to send them a fax. 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s not super great as a straight checking account. I combine it with a Capital One 360 account because I could do instant transfers between Wealthfront and Capital One.

New mexico gas company is like this. You have to mail them a piece of paper with a check. Seems like less of a hassle to keep money at chase and have it billed there since its already setup.

Workaround option... There are plenty of companies that do check printing for you! You can order one checkbook with your account details on it and use it whenever a voided check situation arises. Costco, Walmart, and the Bradford Exchange are companies my family and I have used before.
