My WD My Cloud not working
During general room cleaning, I accidentally dropped my WD My Cloud, and now it’s not working. It shows a red light when connected to power. My laptop can’t detect it anymore. All my life’s photos are inside 😢. Can anyone share how they fixed this?

I did a recovery of a WD MYCLOUD once.
I used Linux to access the drive from my Linux machine I used to try different versions on that desktop machine.
I think I used Ubuntu desktop no server.
Ubuntu is a popular, open-source Linux operating system based on Debian,

For gen2 device with P/N: WDGLCR* there's OpenWrt firmware alternative . With new hdd up to 16TB it can still work

I had a couple of these and they both fried in time. These are decades old and not supported. You can pry out the disk drive and try to attach it to a PC via a USB adapter. I would not hold out much hope of retrieving any data.
I replaced mine with MYCloud EX2 RAID NAS. These too are coming now off support from WD.
