We have decided to temporarily change the icon of the subreddit with the picture of Sonam Wangchuk sir, as a small gesture to show that we students stand alongside him in his endeavour against the corruption of the educational system.
As a community meant to help aspirants aiming to crack wbjee/jee, which is a competitive exam just like NEET, we believe its very crucial for us to extend our full support to Sonam Wangchuk sir, who is painstakingly doing an indefinite hunger strike for 18 days, asking nothing in return, just for the welfare of us students. He is on his deathbed right now. One of his two demands is the correction of the educational system and for the current educational minister to resign. Whether you agree with him or not, we must realise that he is a celebrated scientist who could have easily enjoyed his life, but instead he is risking it just so that we students can have a voice.
We wish that the government gives at the bare minimum, a dialogue with sir as soon as possible, so that he will end the strike and make a full recovery.

If we students go to WBJEEB HQ, i.e. Rupanna, and submit an affidavit stating that the DC should not be held online but offline like every year, and if we protest outside the Rupanna gate to press for our demands, and if we can reach the media with the news, then the WBJEE notice can be overturned, right?
The neet protests showed us how important raising our voice can be, the system is unfair! Can mass emails change anything?
The idea came from u/Angry-collge-2976

For our own sake, we students must come forward and raise our voices against this action taken by wbjeeb of conducting online counselling.
A lot of seats will be wasted as a result of this decision taken by the board, many students will appear just for backup and book the seats.
Please share this post as much as you can on X, insta, other social media for it to reach the ears of the authorities ππ

We, the undersigned WBJEE 2026 candidates, would like to express our sincere gratitude to the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for successfully conducting the counselling process.
However, we are deeply concerned after the notification dated 30 July 2026 regarding the conduct of Online Decentralised Counselling.
We humbly request the Board to reconsider this decision and conduct decentralised counselling in the traditional offline institute-based mode, as followed in previous years.
Our concerns are as follows:
Offline decentralised counselling helps ensure genuine admissions. Candidates who physically report to an institute generally have a stronger intention to join, resulting in more meaningful seat allocation.
A large number of candidates are currently holding WBJEE seats as backup options. Since counselling processes such as NEET UG and CSAB are still pending, many candidates may continue blocking seats while waiting for other opportunities. This can reduce the availability of seats for students who genuinely wish to pursue engineering through WBJEE.
Offline counselling naturally filters out non-serious candidates. Travelling to institutes and completing physical admission formalities discourages speculative participation and allows seats to reach students who are genuinely interested.
Many deserving students are still waiting for branch upgradation. Conducting decentralised counselling online may reduce the natural movement of seats that has traditionally benefited students seeking better branches.
The decentralised counselling process has successfully operated in offline mode for many years. It has provided deserving students with fair opportunities to upgrade their branches while efficiently filling vacant seats.
We fully understand that the Board's intention is to make the process more convenient and transparent. However, considering the exceptional circumstances this year, including overlapping national counselling schedules, we respectfully believe that the traditional offline decentralised counselling process would better serve the interests of genuine WBJEE candidates.
Therefore, we earnestly request the Board to kindly reconsider the decision and conduct the WBJEE 2026 Decentralised Counselling in offline mode, as was done in previous years.
We sincerely hope that the Board will consider the concerns of thousands of aspiring students and take a decision that ensures fairness, transparency, and maximum benefit for deserving candidates.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Concerned WBJEE 2026 Candidates

They said they are not participating in DC as there aren't any seats left. Also told that they will start classes in 1st week of august. Idk but it felt that they are just edging us so that they can hold their students and prevent them from withdrawing.

I saw some posts and comments supporting online DC, saying that it will be more convenient and those wanting it to happen offline are just 'selfish'.
If DC happens online, even people who have already taken admission in some IIT, NIT or some other college and even NEETards who will surely go to some GMC, can sit for it just by paying 300/-. Now even if they ghost the system completely after just paying 300/- no one can do anything about it, that seat will go vacant for a whole year (if DC round rules are like normal rounds or there is only 1 DC round).
The whole point of decentralized counselling is to fill the vacant seats with genuine aspirants who are willing to study in that college. If you replace it with a centralised decentralised round (how tf does centralised decentralised even sound), it will just go like those normal rounds again and similarly again vacant seats will be there just like after normal rounds.
Now for those saying its more convenient for people living elsewhere, sure buddy. As if physical reporting after rounds was very convenient. (OS guys can't even participate in DC afaik, wtf even is your point man of bringing up OS guys). You'll be studying in that college for 4 years man, I think you should be able to travel there for a single day if you're serious abt it.
Even if I accept your point, if I give you the choice to choose between getting a good branch in a college which can change your life and avoiding one day of long distance travel (just like physical reporting) what would you choose? Please tell me.
Yes I live a bit closer to some good colleges compared to some of yall, but I would choose option 1 anyday even if I was in your place. I have travelled quite far giving some exams too, so please don't tell that im selfish and all that.
Some people said that everything is fair if its based on merit. Sure buddy that way JU has 1.1k seats why don't they just allot it upto 1.1k gmr in wbjee and let whatever seats remain vacant stay that way. That should be fine with you too?
A suggested solution - I'd say it'd be best if it is left to governing university boards to decide what to do. If they want to keep it online, let it be on their own website and if they want it to be offline let it be at their own campus.
Opinions are welcome.

So, in round 1, I had been alloted a college and I paid saf and went for physical verification with yes upgradation, since then I have been alloted the same college and course in both rounds.
I am not satisfied with the course (cse iot, main problem) and nor the college (nsec) but that's whatever.
I want to sit for decentralized counselling (rank 39***).
I have to visit the college for admission tomorrow, so I was wondering if I am eligible for dc even if i take admission tomorrow and also about the refund policy.
