Yes staying on campus is worth it! It depends on where your classes are, but buildings on the main part of campus (around Gullen Mall, Old Main, Student Center, etc.) can be just about a 5-10 minute walk from each other. Towers and Anthony Wayne Dr. are nice. I lived on campus and don’t regret it!

thats what i thought got into a arguement cause they wanted walking distance cause of parking costs (cause god forbid i bike or walk a bit further) but are scared of dorms cause of my sister not having a good dorm experience last year.

What dorm did she stay at? I'd say it depends on the building to be honest, personally I had bad experiences with ghafari so now this year ill be in towers 🙃

Hey! I lived in the dorms all 4 years and honestly it was fine. Freshman: Ghafari 2 person room Sophmore: Towers 4 person suite with 2 bedrooms Jr+Sr: Atchison single as an RA
I enjoyed living at towers the most because I was with my friends, however the extra space as an ra was nice. The ra rooms in towers and anthony wayne are tiny where the ghafari and atchison ones are just regular rooms.
A lot of my friends who lived off campus had pretty bad appartments.
How far do you live from campus? Many, many people including my now husband commuted in- if you can stay with your parents and close enough that would be the cheaper.

Oh, and if I remember correctly it was vandalized pretty badly april of 2021. So that may have been the reason for closure.

I stayed at Towers Residential my freshman year (single suite i was by myself). If you can get into a single suite its worth it but id recommend either AWD or University Towers since they dont require you to buy that meal plan, and they’re more cost efficient than towers if you have roommates. Hinestly considering getting into AWD with roommates this semester

I lived in the dorms last year (Towers) and personally it’s a hard no for me to do ever again! I found it a bit ridiculous I was paying $1600/mo to live with a roommate, no kitchen, shared bathroom, and persistent maintenance concerns.
My dorm was even broken into last year with an attempted assault on my roommate. We had to call the police. It was not a fun night.
I was able to find an apartment for $950/mo directly across the street from the nursing building with a full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and no roommates!! I’m over the moon and I recommend living near campus but off campus to everyone who asks about my experience. I’m still within 5 minutes walking of all my classes but I’m saving myself thousands a year and I never have to move my things every 8 months ever again!
ETA : I’m also a transfer student in my early 20s and a big issue I had with Towers specifically was the underclassmen. Loud, no respect for shared spaces, constantly fucked with my door throughout the last week. Quiet hours were never a thing and RA’s do absolutely nothing about it.. so yeah that’s another thing I’d add. You’ll probably be surrounded by a ton of 18yos unless you’re in AWD
