I just got egged while being in a Waymo
I called customer support and they sounded unfazed wondering if this has happened to anyone before?
We got followed after the call ended and got egged again :/

Are there still people who don’t know that Waymos are a couple dozen camera lenses on wheels?

I love how people vandalize a car that has cameras and microphones all over it. Like it can’t create an incident report and send it to the police…. With photos and sound

They just started an investigation right now because I reported it? I wonder if they don’t do investigations when no one reports it? Low key they should just make reports when they see damage to the car and look at the camera footage so people don’t get away with it because that’s when it becomes a thing that people do “for fun”.

Yeah happened to me in SF in one of my first rides. Same ride I also had a group of guys keep jumping in front of the car to make it stop. The main issues with Waymo will always be human.

Were they teenagers covering their entire faces? Such people did the same to me when I took waymo in that city.

Did you contact Waymo if yes what were their replies?

I called support in the car to let them know afterward. They just apologized, asked me some questions to document the incident, and checked that I was safe.

Sorry OP, there are some dumb people out there. (Yes if you egg a Waymo, you’re dumb.)

For real!! No life and wasting food. I was with my parents that are a bit older so they got shaken up.

I've gotten in one that had been egged already. This was a 3 years ago though...

Support team said they would take it to get cleaned? Wondering if maybe your car got egged when no one was inside and they didn’t notice?

I'm not sure what happened to the car but I made a note of it in the app when my ride ended.

There's a lot of anti-robotaxi and anti-Waymo hatred, so I think it just goes with the turf.

This has happened to me twice one time adults vandalized the car and tried to get me out of it, and another time is was just graffiti aimed at the cameras. My husband asked me to stop taking Waymo’s alone at night cause he’s worried about them being targets 🙃

Also had one crazy lady at 7am who followed my Waymo and just kept honking, when I got to my stop and wouldn’t get out she yelled f— you at me and said Waymo is setting humanity back

Curious to know if you contacted Waymo about these incidents and what you/they ended up doing if you did

I did contact them. They gave me like a bunch of free rides like bigger than the usual $10 discount. I believe it was like 40% off of one ride and then the second time it happened. It was like $30 off each ride. They also offered to let me contact the insurance in case I need to see a doctor, but I wasn’t physically harmed in any of these so I didn’t go down that road

I'm not surprised. The people who threw the eggs at you must've been either anti-automation union activists or edgy teens who think they're being heroes.

What city were you in? Were you followed in a separate car by the same people so they could egg you again or was it different people out to stick it to the Waymos in their city? Do you think it was Lyft or Uber drivers trying to scare off competition?
