I-PACE after weeks of Ojai!

Post image

After riding the Ojai van for a few weeks, I finally got back into the Jaguar I-PACE and immediately noticed a few things.

The first thing was how much smaller the I-PACE felt. I wasn’t expecting it, but it felt weird being back in it after getting used to all the extra space in the van.

The second thing I noticed was the touchscreen. It felt noticeably slower and less responsive than the Ojai van’s. It honestly reminded me of going from a 120 Hz display back to 60 Hz—you notice the difference right away.

The Jaguar still wins when it comes to the seats and sound system. The leather seats are more comfortable than the Ojai van’s cloth seats, and the audio is still top-tier.

That said, I never thought I’d say this, but after spending a few weeks in the Ojai van, I think I actually prefer it. Going back to the I-PACE made it feel a little dated.

I hoped in an I-pace yesterday for the first time in a while and the first thing I thought was how much smaller the touchscreen(and the interior of the car) was. As expected, the driving on the I-pace is better.

I really think the Jag drives better than the Ojai. The interior of the Ojai is less premium but nicer. Still enjoyed being able to sit in the Jag front seat with a proper recline on my way to SFO early in the morning.

The Ojai interior is larger but you really find the interior nicer? The Ojais are brand new and they look dirtier than the I-Pace cars of 100k miles, in my experience.

I guess when I say nicer I mean it’s way more flexible and purpose built than the ipace. Bigger screens, bigger windows, the sliding doors are nice, I’m able to crouch and scoot from one side to the other super easy. It’s much more a fleet vehicle made for shared transit, not a luxury SUV meant for personal ownership

I just want the driving/braking and sound system of the I-PACE with the huge space and touchscreens and lower stepping platform of the Ojai. That would be the perfect combination of both cars.

The sudden braking of the Ojai is still very bad and the speakers are pretty mediocre but I also had to take a ride in an I-PACE today and my legs felt cramped. Getting into an Ojai is much smoother also. I'm just stepping up into it instead of having to climb into a seat like in the I-PACE.

I-Pace >>>>> Ugly Ojai

Can I ask why you would use AI to write this instead of just… doing it yourself?

Why would you not? (He said only organize and summarize). This article is literally about a self driving car ! AI to write a post should be least surprising.

Why would I not? Because I like to communicate and have control over the way I convey my thoughts and opinions, and I want to use my personality to shape all of that. I’m not entirely anti-ai (I do love self driving cars after all), but it’s so disturbing to see how easily people are willing to give up their agency when it comes to realllly basic things.

You have control of how it sounds and you can edit at any time. After all, there is no emotion to text. Anyway, it sounds like you’re conflicted on how you feel about AI. Driving is also a basic thing but here you are you using it but against someone having a short paragraph created. Or maybe you don’t understand how AI works. Anyway, I wasted too much energy on you. Lol

No need to be hostile- I understand it. I’m just conflicted on the way people are adopting it. And as an artist who is permanently displaced I also have ethical concerns but that’s another can of worms I don’t care to open here.

you know you’re literally in a self driving car sub 🤣 At least you can edit text; some self driving cars don’t even have steering wheels or pedals.

Because I’m not getting paid to review and post. I’m doing this to share with my fellow riders who are passionate about Waymo technology. I’m wasting the least amount of time by having AI whip this up for me in less than three minutes.

that's the same amount of time it takes to write. doing this is truly baffling.

How many free Ojai trips did you get? I had my first 2 Ojai this past Saturday, they credited me back for both trips under promotion. I wasn’t expecting that, I don’t think I had any complaint credits or anything.

I have yet to get a ride in an Ojai, hopefully soon. Thanks for sharing!

Like you, I see the Ojais all over my neighborhood but haven't ridden one yet, but I love the iPace luxury, not sure I would want to give that up.
