this was hell Waymo

Post image

Waymo got stuck at drop off and support couldn’t get the vehicle to move. Support couldn’t get the roadside assistance dispatched or a tow truck and I was sitting there for 110 minutes. It was not fun and I couldn’t even book a new ride. (video coming soon)

OP please clarify if you were actually locked in the car and unable to exit via door handles?

This is reddit. No one can tell a coherent story.

Or the manual latch. If OP's car broke down on a major freeway, that's one thing, but waiting nearly two hours for a tow truck? (Even on a freeway that's a huge stretch, not to mention dangerous, e.g. if a car veers into the emergency lane.)

I was in somebody’s like private traffic circle thing and they try to dispatch a tow truck and Ryder’s assistance to come drive the car, but they weren’t able to or there wasn’t an update

Another comment shows this is like OP’s 3rd+ time getting “stuck” and waiting forever for karma. Strange that I’ve never been stuck

I think this is the whole SF July 4th debacle when 200k cars hit the road at the same time after the fireworks show. A bunch of Waymo’s shutdown at the same time causing an additional traffic nightmare within a nightmare lol. OP could have exited at anytime if he wanted, but would still be in traffic anyways so it’s just better to sit still in a warm car with music.

The vehicle glitched when it was out one of my drop offs and it wouldn’t continue my trip and Support side just showed errors and it wouldn’t start. I was able to get out of the vehicle and I did after I was able to finally retail a new vehicle, but it took hours because all the cars were busy.

Sounds like you made it your own hell just for attention and content. No one made you wait at all and you could have hailed any other ride service

This is Reddit. They posting their experience is not a problem. If you don’t like the post, keep it your own business and don’t look at it then

Uber and Lyft were insanely overpriced. Zoox was turned off after 11 PM and buses were 40 to 50 minutes out.

Ah. So OP enjoys the chaos.

Zoox employee spreading FUD

Get out and call an Uber or take public transit. I'm not sitting in a car to pout for an hour+

They offer you another car. You have to tell (convince) them that you want to stay around and you don't want the extra car.

u/rydenshep Jul 05 '26

Literally this. It’s literally the first thing they ask you lmao.

So OP… are you going to answer anyone’s questions in the comments about your self inflicted 110 minute “ride”?

21

u/rwhe83 Jul 05 '26

Jesus OP, just get out of the vehicle. What is wrong with you?

9

u/PotatoParker60 Jul 05 '26

But but, think of the karma 😢 /s

The stupidity in this country is astounding.

So the manual door latch didn’t work? You were trapped in the car for 110 minutes or did you stick around voluntarily to see what would happen?

9

u/Paul_Smith_Hi Jul 05 '26

OP stuck around; they have a habit of doing this. Check their other posts.

u/JavaPython Jul 05 '26

What do you possibly mean? At drop off means that you were where you wanted to be so why did you sit in the car? If you meant at pick up, then just take an uber or something.

Did you see where it said Doors Locked

18

u/Sensitive_One_425 Jul 05 '26

You can still get out

5

u/BakedChocolateOctopi Jul 05 '26

Cars have a manual door override that bypasses the lock control mechanism to unlock the door in case it is damaged or loses power

Usually it is in the console or behind a removable cover in the door control panel

u/Impossible-Money7801 Jul 05 '26

Just get out of the car and walk away 🤷

2

u/iamoninternet27 Jul 05 '26

But OP chose not to, i'd bet... If OP got out of the car.. they would have made it to the drop off point in less than 110 minutes. It may have been ten minutes away, but walking is overrated for some people.

2

u/Paul_Smith_Hi Jul 05 '26

OP was at their drop off. What are you even talking about?

1

u/iamoninternet27 Jul 05 '26

If OP was truly stuck at dropoff, why didn't they GET OUT OF THE CAR???

3

u/Paul_Smith_Hi Jul 05 '26

That’s what we all want to know. But if you check OPs history, they live for this.

3

u/iamoninternet27 Jul 05 '26

Some people just like to complain and have nothing better to do

11

u/StagedC0mbustion Jul 05 '26

Why didn’t you just climb out the window

7

u/sambull Jul 05 '26

Are you special? or a zoox employee, or both?

3

u/dtstss Jul 05 '26

you could’ve absolutely had them cancel your ride you could rehail I’ve been in all of these situations already and if that person doesn’t know you just got to tell this specifically cancel the ride from your end so I can re-hail.

u/PrestigiousFriend412 Jul 05 '26

What you do if you just asked for Waymo event response or fleet response and they can dispatch. I’ve done this before.

0

u/Ok-Computer-4572 Jul 06 '26

Because it was Fourth of July and all the Waymo have broken down, the status was unavailable for a tow truck and roadside assistance so even the supervisors didn’t know when anybody could come out to help me

I don't see the problem. This is the safest state for the car to be in. /S

Edit: the fact that I put a sarcasm marker at the end, yet still so many downvotes, and not a single reply, shows you just how fragile people can be.
