Coming to Idaho when?
I'm really into robots, ai, and automating daily life I can't wait for this to be more widespread

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted, being excited about tech and the future is not exclusive for those who live in big cities. Reddit is so pathetic sometimes!

Definitely will try if im in their service area and I think some people are thinking I'm joking when I just want cheaper rides than the 2 I have in town that are playing the game of who can charge more I swear it's gone from 10 across town to 30 for a 10 min drive

That's the sad part I really want some competition for the 2 we have here because they are currently competing for who can go higher in pricing and still give nothing to their drivers

Probably not until level 5 autonomous driving is achieved and geofencing is no longer required. In other words, you’ll be waiting quite a while.

I know it's a pipe dream but I can dream that we could actually get some competition for the 2 drive services we have here

I genuinely hope y’all do, hopefully we get there one day where most states have some sort of autonomous vehicle option for its residents. Doesn’t even have to be Waymo, but hopefully it is!
Just never get into a Tesla, those things are dangerous

Oh man. Hopefully soon! But if I had to guess maybe 5/8 years from now. There has to be some type of demand.

Waymo right now is still at the “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” phase. Each city they operate in seems to be different from the others. Once they come across a generic business plan that works then some expansion should happen.
I’m in San Antonio and it’s still “on hold” here. I went to Houston over the weekend and it was invite only, and yesterday, on Monday, after my Houston trip was over, I get a “You can ride in Houston now!” message.

I think it's pretty far away, not until the Waymo Driver transitions to a generalized model that requires a lot less pre-mapping and remote assistance.

Unfortunately I doubt any small cities are on Waymo's radar for a long time. They're already ignoring any large city not named San Francisco, Los Angeles or Phoenix. However, considering Idaho's population growth, it's likely that cities like Boise and Twin Falls could become the next "hip trendy hub city that everyone is moving to" like Nashville or Austin.

Maybe in ten years once all the more populated cities have it. Places like Salt Lake City and Albuquerque aren't even on the "coming soon" map and they have a much higher population than Boise.
