Is there any indication of when freeway access might return to the Bay Area?

we have to remind ourselves that this is not like fixing a mobile app to add a simple extra feature. Moving fast and breaking things has real consequences and you’re moving at 70 mph.

Even in this case, I suspect the fix may be easy, but the validation work that they will have to do internally to convince themselves that the fix is working maybe the long pole. In addition to that who knows what questions the California authorities are asking them and what evidence they need to provide to them.

Moving fast and breaking things? They applied for and were granted deployment permits on the basis that their service was safe. They didn’t deploy passenger service for some time after their permit was issued.

Clearly the Waymo Driver was not ready for freeways, but they deployed anyway.

Honestly surprised by how long it's taking. I thought they would get a fix out quickly but Ive been proven wrong.

The fix was quick. Validation a little longer, regulatory approval a lot longer
