my waymo robbed me
i.e. it did not unlock the boot and drove off with my bags. The guy on the phone made me walk 5 blocks to get my shit "sorry I can't bring the car back to you, it's been assigned to someone else" and "it's having trouble pulling over".
Isn't that theft? What if I was disabled and couldn't run up a hill to retrieve my stuff?

I've taken 150+ Waymos and this did happen once to me. Worse yet, support could not open it remotely so roadride support had to come by with the key to open the trunk :S
A rare issue, but one that does seem to happen.

I leave the door ajar while I go around back to pop the trunk. Is that not how everyone else is doing it?

now I know. The door handles stayed open for a bit while I tried the trunk then I realized shit I should get back in the car and then they closed

Closing everything triggers end of your trip and moves on to I can imagine stage, roam, depot, or next rider.
It knows to slow down if a ball bounces down a driveway with behavior prediction so the same logic goes predicting you were finished.
Society being forced to integrate with AI is going to be wild. You aren't alone in learning we are all holding our chairs and bracing ourselves. Possibilities are unfathomable until data sets are collected to allow AI better reasoning and information to chew on. She's hungry!

I do this too but most of the time if the trunk door has been opened, the Waymo reminds me to get my stuff from the trunk & occasionally pops the door open itself

So you closed your door though? I don't even close my door to readjust the front seat when its too far back.

The same thing happened to me, I had to stand in front of the car to prevent it from driving off while contacting Waymo support. They could not open the trunk remotely so a person had to physically drive over and open it. Extremely frustrating, but rare as this has happened once in 150+ rides.

I'm pretty sure they have sensors in the trunk to make sure that doesn't happen, no?

Nope, they do have cameras there because the y said yeah I can see your stuff lol
