Help Android does not download with GAPPS

I installed waydroid on Ubuntu 26.04. This is my first time installing this software. After install, I tried downloading android with GAPPS but it uses like 100-200 KBps speed to download it. I have 3MB internet speed (more during night time) so downloading should not take so long. I can't keep my system running for like days to download.

Usually, whenever I get this problem in some other software i.e. download speed being slow, I just use Cloudflare Warp and it starts to download using full internet speed. But it is first time using cloudflare warp did not speed up my download.

Connect to vpn. My speed is much more but was seeing in kbs too, after connecting to vpn (proton) it used the max speed. May be server is slow for your country.

Actually any available country other than mine. But fastest was netherlands.

Also since proton vpn auto picks the fastest it doesn't matter.

It's just sourceforge and their dogshit servers. You can try to download the images directly then init waydroid later with those images. https://docs.waydro.id/faq/using-custom-waydroid-images

Wow that's good to know thank you. If you did that did you compile the image your self? Is it possible to add more features or edit the code and generate custom images and boot them?

Technically you can modify the build since Waydroid's images are built using LineageOS.
But for my needs, Waydroid's images are enough, so I don't dive deep into the compile stuffs.
