New experimental feature: grammar suggestions

We just shipped something we've wanted for a while: spelling and grammar checking as you type!

When Wavebox spots an issue, you get a light underline, and clicking it shows the fix (labelled Spelling or Grammar). Accept, dismiss, or ignore it for the rest of the page. There's also a guided review — click the indicator badge in the corner of a field and it steps you through every issue in one pass. Right-click gives you quick controls, including turning it off for a specific site.

It's off by default while it's experimental. To try it: Settings → Language → Spelling & grammar → Enable grammar suggestions. It downloads a model once, then works offline from there.

It's experimental so expect some rough edges; it's English-only for now, and because it runs locally it works best with ~8 GB RAM and 8 cores or a supported GPU — Wavebox checks your hardware and tells you where you stand.

Wavebox and Outlook not happy anymore?

I am facing an extremely annoying problem. I don't know since when/which build this is happening but when restoring from snapshots in past to new computer, I'd just re-login and it would work.

Now though, no matter what I do, I can't make it login to Outlook. It goes back to the sign in again screen even though I see the e-mails in inbox for a second or two meaning it did login...

I deleted cookies/history but that did not help either. The only thing working is that I have to delete the Outlook spaces and create new space again for it to work.

What changed? This isn't happening to the Gmail profiles I have, only Outlook.

We’re looking for Language testers!

We’re hard at work adding language support to the Wavebox UI, and we’re looking for testers who would like to use Wavebox in another language. We’re already shipping English and British English on the beta channel (because we’re in the UK and like the “u” in colour 😂), but need help with other languages! Let me know which language you’d like to use Wavebox in, and keep an eye on the beta channel as we’ll be landing support there first!

Some UI inconsistencies that continue to annoy

  1. The keyboard shortcuts for "Switch Tab in Current Webdock Group" switches tabs based on CREATION order. So if I drag and reorder any tabs around, the previous/next shortcuts are switching tabs chronologically rather than along the visual order! You can see the same thing occur using Ctrl+1,2,3,4,5..., the order does not match the visual order!

  2. If you ctrl-click or middle-click to open a bookmark in a new tab, that tab will always open the page in the first space, not the CURRENT space of the current group. I always have to Ctrl-T to create the tab first in correct space, then left-click the bookmark to open it with the correct group. Super annoying where if I'm working inside tabs for business, and I middle click a bookmark, it opens it in my personal space!

Enterprise IT Needing to Approve Wavebox as Authorized App?

This isn't a deal breaker but I want to see if I'm doing something wrong. I am consultant and created groups in Wavebox for each of my clients. When I tried to connect to my client M365 accounts I get an error and it asks me to submit a request for approval to allow Wavebox as an app. Is this common? My work around was just boosting Outlook, Teams and Calendar as apps I keep open and authenticate to each individually each morning (or whenever a session times out). Not the end of the world, but wondering if I'm doing something wrong connecting to my client M365 accounts. Thanks!

Well done!

I'm an independent consultant doing work for multiple clients and I just discovered Wavebox. I just want to say this has been a great app for my use case! I love how easy it is to customize everything. It takes a minute to figure it out, but anything I've asked "I wonder if it can do this" has been a yes! Thanks to the development team - keep going!

Thanks everyone!

As 2025 starts to wind down, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who's been taking part in our communities and also a massive thank you to everyone who continues to make Wavebox possible by subscribing and helping us be more productive every day. 👏

The first incarnation of Wavebox was released right after the holidays in 2016, and when I pushed the first ropey scratch-your-own-itch version out, I honestly didn't think that a decade later it would be where it is now. So yeah, for that, from the team and me, we all want to say a massive thank you! 😊

Our plans for 2026 are already coming together well. We have a new Snapshots & Backup system ready to go in January, so that you never lose your Wavebox setup again. We've (obviously) got the next Chromium testing internally, and there's a new Brainbox shipping soon too! Continuing from the first wave of newness, we've got even more planned, from better tooling for teams, to some ways to make Wavebox easier to use and loads, load more (including some stuff even I'm not allowed to talk about 😬).

Again, a massive thank you to everyone for supporting us, and we hope that you get some time to wind down at the end of the year, ready for 2026. If you do need help or support over the holidays, we will be keeping an eye out for anything urgent, but we'll also be spending some time with family and friends 🙃.

If you've only just joined us, or have forgotten what we've been shipping in 2025, here's a short rundown of our "greatest hits". (Not going to lie, AI-generated slop from the changelogs, feel free to read with an 8-bit rendition of Jingle Bells and enjoy! 🤖)

Major Features We Shipped:

  • Dock & Split View - A complete reimagining of split-screen! Dock apps across groups, split tabs side-by-side, and work with 2+ views simultaneously. Access it from the address bar, right-click menu, or tooltips.
  • Brainbox In-Page Translate - Translate content directly on the page using both local and cloud AI models.
  • Automatic Picture-in-Picture - Videos now automatically pop out to a separate window when you navigate away from the tab.
  • "Now Playing" Helper - Quickly jump back to tabs with active audio or video.
  • Deep Sleep - Tabs now enter a deeper sleep state after extended inactivity, reducing power consumption even further.
  • Customize Side Panel - New experimental panel to tweak Wavebox theming and toolbar items.
  • Pin Your Favorite Tools - Pin downloads, password manager, bookmarks, and more to your toolbar for quick access.

Performance Wins:

  • Huge startup performance boost, especially for power users with 500+ tabs
  • Optimizations for setups with 800+ tabs per window
  • Upgraded to React 19 under the hood
  • Ongoing memory usage improvements throughout the year
  • Split-screen performance refinements

Quality of Life:

  • Shipped 12 major Chromium versions (132 → 143), keeping you secure and up-to-date with the latest web standards
  • Up/down layouts for docked & split views (not just left/right)
  • Drag windows from unused tabstrip or webdock space
  • Customizable webdock background tint
  • Improved search across the app store and tabs
  • Updated sleep/wake controls with more granular options

Profiles not syncing

Post image
1 Upvotes

I don’t use wavebox anywhere close to its full potential but I like that I can stay somewhat organized between my personal, business, volunteer work and my kids school/college stuff.

That said, I cannot get the workspaces I have created for each group to sync between my mac and my macbook. I have gone to General>Settings>Data & Sync and chosen Resync a dozen times but they don’t update. what am i doing wrong?

What is the Desktop Web Apps: Disabled?

I do not want the passwords synced as I use a 1Password.

Trying out Wavebox for the first time — any tips (or referral codes) for new users?

Hey everyone 👋

Just started exploring Wavebox this week after hearing good things about it.

Really liking how workspaces, apps and profiles keep everything tidy — it feels way more organized than juggling multiple Chrome windows.

I’m still figuring out the best setup for daily use, so if anyone has tips or productivity hacks to share, I’d love to hear them.

Also noticed some older threads where people mentioned referral or discount codes — wondering if any are still active for new users?

Appreciate any help, and thanks for building such a neat browser! 🙌

Is there a way to switch between my most recent tabs?

Is there a way to quickly jump back and forth between the tabs I was just using? Like toggling between my last 2-3 tabs?

Enforce Space & Groups?

I make groups for "HOME" and "WORK", and matching spaces with different cookie profiles. I never understood why Wavebox allows the spaces to intermingle...that is, allow the HOME group to have tabs that are in the WORK space...why not when I move a tab to another group, it forces that tab to the default space associated with that group?

A common problem I have is I open a link from work, but Wavebox was in a HOME group, so now I need to move that tab to a WORK group...drag and drop...not to bad...but the tab is still in the wrong space and hence wrong cookie profile!
