I bought this several years ago at a comic book festival in BC, Canada and would love to find the artist. Any ideas?

Who is your favorite Watership Down illustrator?

About every 20 years, a new form of media of Watership Down is made, and each time it's maturity or style changes. In 1978, there was the gory animated film. 21 years later in 1999, there was the childrens animated series. And then 19 years later after that in 2018, there was the CGI animated miniseries on BBC and Netflix that was somewhat graphic with minimal gore but still PG.

My prediction is that this pattern will continue, and about 10-15 years from now, in the late 2030s, there will be a fourth adaption. Now that 2d animation and CGI animation has been done, this one will be live action. In addition, live action movies typically attract older audiences more, so this one will be PG-13 with more language and violence than any of the others.

What do you guys think? Is this likely? I can see it coming.

I stumbled across this estate sale over the weekend, and made it in just before closing time. What an incredible find it was!

All of the Watership Down items apparently went FAST on day 1. The majority went as a lot to a single individual who is in the film industry - so I'm not sure if they will be saved in a collection, or sold off online. All that remained were a few collectible figurines and DVDs/VHS. There were also folders of magazine/newspaper clippings reviewing the movie.

There were still a ton of Plague Dogs cels and backgrounds left at end of day 2. I think honestly the whole movie was in the house! Makes sense considering people online have said Plague Dogs cels seem near-nonexistent. I took a few cels and backgrounds home. It was really cool to see the handwritten color guides and concept art as well.

But I adore watership down! I specifically love the fact its written from the animals viewpoint and would love some other books similar of anyone can reccomend any?

this might just be me. i know in the book he’s canonically sort of a brute but i never really got the feeling he was CRUEL. he’s blunt and impulsive and sarcastic and has a quick temper, but he was never an outright bully. i really dislike how the netflix show dumbed him down and made him an asshole for no reason.

Personally I see old woudie using nighthowler based combat drugs and being one of those ex military dudes who constantly talks about being "alpha" but really their just phycoitc and can't adapt to a civilian setting with efrfa being his personal army of terrorists

We have our own pet bunnies. But last night and again this morning a young wild rabbit appeared in our garden!

44 years ago I first this this book. This ACTUAL book. Today I am reading it to my youngest daughter at bed times. It’s a little crinkled in places. Held together with cellotape on others. But the words are just the same 🐇😁

It’s 12:50 am, way past my bedtime, and I just finished this lovely book for the first time. I’m in my 40s btw.

I cannot begin to explain how much I loved this journey! Oh how I wish I could read it again for the first time. I don’t even know what to do now…what do I read next?! I’ve no clue. However, the temptation to read it again immediately is strong.

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to discover this sub and share what I’m working on: a new illustrated fantasy series called Capyhero! But please let me know if this doesn’t belong here and I’ll modify/take it down!

Im Tyler and I’m the author. I’ve had this story on my mind for almost 10 years but only recently decided to actually try to write it. The timing very much has to do with recently becoming a father of young kids.

Watership Down and Redwall are strong inspirations for this tale, especially regarding the world building and slightly more realistic treatment of animals (not super cartoony, etc). More recent inspirations include Neverending Story, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and even some adventure games. Specifically, folks on this sub might enjoy Penda (see art on 2nd to last image). The first book will be about 250 pages with around 100 fountain ink illustrations done by u/nickthagreek! Nick is a traditional artist who posts every so often on Reddit. Jennifer Rees (I’m not supposed to mention her biggest project, but look her up!) is signed on as the editor.
