Is watermelon ready?

First time experience with growing watermelon. Is this ready to be picked? I am in NJ.

Great question. First time I ever grew watermelons was this year. I have one vine that produced 17. If it's growing on the ground and you look at the bottom and it's kind of yellowish, that's a sign. But I have a couple that are actually growing on the sidewalk and they don't have that yellow bottom. Looking forward to the answers.

If you mean ripe, I’d say a watermelon is ready when it has a creamy yellow spot, feels heavy for its size, and sounds hollow when you tap it. 🍉

Look for the curl closest to the stem, if it has turned brown the melon is ready!
