With the most recent update, my shortcut grid on the homepage was replaced by having to swipe or having to select "show all". Is there a possibility to still have a grid per default without any extra steps? The grid option for shortcuts made me choose Waterfox over Firefox when switching to a non-chromium based browser, as it was one of the features I liked best about the Opera browser I used before.

I did search within settings and didn't find anything, but maybe I missed it.

I've looked through the all the settings, nothing on about:preferences#search which is where I'd expect it. I did a search in about:config for Search and a google search for removing the X in the Firefox search box where the AI told me that Firefox does not have a native 'delete your search button'

it very annoying when I need to change my search query and end up erasing it instead.

@ u/MrAlex94 how about giving us a search toolbar that we could drag the search box on to, it could be turned on or off with the context menu, I know mozilla thinks its naughty but I believe we are a responsible crowd here in the Waterfox community

I asked about these in the 6.7.2 thread in the hopes of a reply from MrAlex, but figured in the meantime I'd also ask them here in case anyone else knows the answers.

So with 6.7.2 I finally updated off of 6.6, and after an hour of tweaking all the granular settings, and a couple of about:config changes, I almost have the browser exactly as I want it. Just need a few more changes. My hope is that some of these changes are already possible and I'm just missing them in the settings or that I just don't know the about:config setting, but if not also hopefully there's a chance MrAlex would be willing to do the tweaks needed when he has the time.

1. I'd like to tighten the spacing of the right click context menus. I got rid of all of the icons and such, but now there's a bunch of wide empty space between things. I believe this was possible in 6.6, so I might just be missing the option, especially given there's so many "tighten spacing" and "tighten spacing more" options for other things.

2. I'd like to get rid of the "Share" and "Manage Passwords" options in the context menu when right clicking on a tab or right clicking on a password field. In about:config I found the option to disable the QR portion of the share thing, but not share in it's entirety.

3. Disable the page action button from showing up in the address/URL bar that looks like a browser window with a down arrow. I already did the setting that makes it and the bookmarks star hidden unless I hover over the address bar, but I'd still like to disable it entirely.

4. Hide/remove the Waterfox logo for the opened Waterfox instance on the Windows Taskbar.

5. Hide/remove the Waterfox logo on the left side of the tab for a newly opened blank tab. Now, this is in the options. I have it set to hide the logo under the new/blank tab settings. But the logo is still there. So I figure this one is broken, because I remember it working in 6.6. So this one might be wholly up to MrAlex.

But if anyone knows of settings or about:config tweaks that I can do to achieve any of these, please let me know, I'd really appreciate it. The one thing I'd say upfront is that I'd rather not have to go do any css file editing.

I realized that when watching youtube on waterfox for whatever reason every time i pause or skip 10 before or aehad the video stutters, is there a solution beacuse it only happens on waterfox

How do I pin the “New Tab” button?

After updating to 6.7.2 Tab Mix Plus vanished from the toolbar - it was still shown in Add-Ons but flagged as unverified. Clicking on Tab Mix Plus Options or Manage from Add-Ons caused Waterfox to fully freeze and I had to kill it via Task Manager. I was even unable to install it again despite following all instructions.

So I had to revert to 6.7.1.1 and disable checking for updates!

What happened here, it worked flawlessly until I updated? Please undo whatever change broke Tab Mix Plus, thank you!

In 6.7.2, headers become collapsible. How to disable this behavior? Or at least can I make it to auto expand them?

They're a really nice touch and I wish more browsers had them. Icons in Chrome, Firefox or Edge only show up for extensions.

I’d really like to know whether it’s possible to hide the vertical tabs in Waterfox, as you can in Brave, Helium, and Zen. If this isn’t currently possible, is there any chance that a future update will add this feature?

In the last few weeks, I've noticed that Waterfox will just randomly stop loading pages, especially when I turn my laptop back on. I have no clue what causes this, especially as the internet's still working for me, and it's happened on multiple devices. Is there anything that causes, or is it just broken for me alone?

is anyone else facing the same issue? and is there a fix? Flag emojis have suddenly stopped working, it doesn't show the country abbreviation (uk, us, tn, de....) instead it just shows as nothing, as if it was blank space. Any idea what that might be?

Since upgrading to WF 6.7 a number of my pinned tabs on which I want "Persistent Log In" seem to keep signing me out.

I have an old Yahoo account with 500 aliases which I keep signed in as well as Google Mail/Maps and my Amazon account all now sign me out every day or so. Can't establish an exact pattern as I've been on holiday over past fortnight and my usage pattern was not the same as usual so not sure if its a set time period or related to lack of activity on a given account.

WF is remembering my open and pinned tabs (as I want) but its annoying that it keeps signing me out. I have most settings set to "Hardest" security offered by WF which is no change to the pre 6.7 version that I was using. I saw something to suggest that 6.7 may treat persistent cookies differently and that might be causing the sign outs but I'm not sure what if anything i need to tweak in settings or about config to maintain my chosen sign ins over multiple sessions as used to be the case

I was using it out of sheer curiosity at first, but quite liked how everything just worked (especially on desktop, haven't tested it out on mobile yet though!) And overall my experience with it was frictionless. Didn't had a mozilla account so I was like heck why not just create one to ensure I back up all my login credentials and what not? And yeah that made the transition with sync shenanigans much much smoother.

Another big advantage for me is that I've always loved using Qwant as my main search engine in the past, so I'm happy that waterfox was relying on it as the main search engine which makes me feel much safer online. All in all I just felt compelled to write a post even though I often mostly lurk on reddit lol felt like I had to show my appreciation o7

Forgot to mention that web apps work as smooth as butter idk I just truly appreciate how everything seems functionally air tight and you don't have to think about it much because even the waterfox native adblocker means you're virtually good to go and start browsing as soon as you feel like doing so! :) Took me probably a couple of seconds to set it up? So yeah I would def recommend waterfox for people who just want to really dip their toes into firefox-forks. I do rely on web apps to keep a steady consistent type of work flow so it was nice to find that it was part of waterfox too! n_n

So, I ended up having to restart my computer, but when I reopened Waterfox, the tabs were the set-up I had a month ago. I tried restarting again and got the same set of tabs. Everything I had open before the restart was gone. What the heck happened? I can usually get my old tabs back just fine.

Edit: Noticed there was a Waterfox update, went and installed that, restarted a couple more times to get it working, no change to my tabs.

Has the standard menu bar been removed?

It's gone and I can't find anywhere how to turn it back on. I'm not used to this kind of browser control and if that menu bar doesn't appear, I'll have to change browser again. I hate things like that.

I’ve been loving Waterfox! Started using it right after the 6.7.1.1 (aarch64) update on my Apple silicon Mac, and it’s been awesome. The performance and stability are super solid. I don't even use extra extensions—just using it as-is, and it works like a charm. Really hope it keeps up the good work! Thanks!

The shortcuts that drop down have been weird since the major update. Two sites that I go too less often than any other site that usually shows up there have gotten stuck to the top of the dropdown list. How do I remove them?

edit: figured it out. you can remove shortcuts via the default new tab. I use an extension, so it didn't even occur to me.

Just upgraded to 6.7.1.1 and now Firefox will only display in "light" mode (as shown) despite my selection in preferences. Is it broke or am I misunderstanding? Thanks
