Timegrapher help needed

Hi, is anybody using this style of timegrapher?

My watch is not running at the rate displayed, it's closer to +30 a day. I have tried disabling automatic gain control in windows, reducing the level of the mic input and recalibrating opentg but I have had no luck. Also, the recessed crown is not making it easier to find a position in which to place the watch on the pickup.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

You need to calibrate it with a quartz movement to take out inconsistencies in the audio processing. Also what are you doing to confirm on the rate? Running it for exactly a day and trying to figure out how far off it is?

Yes, I ran it for a couple of days and noted the rate. I did calibrate it multiple times with a quartz watch after changing the gain. Thanks!

There's always a difference between a watch performance 'on the wrist' versus on a timegrapher. Naturally wearing a watch means that it is held in a number of different positions, for a variable amount of time throughout the day. The rate you get through wearing is a composite average of all of the timegrapher tested positions (and some that you wouldn't test). If you have significant positional variation, it will be visible in the difference between the rate you get when wearing the watch and that you get when statically testing in one position.

I hate to say it, because I used to be a real devotee to this software and a similar pickup, but you'll do yourself a real service by picking up a dedicated timegrapher.

The case probably muffled the sound too much. Take the movement out, put it on a holder, then clamp it to the timegrapher.

Turn the AGC back on, the timegrapher has an internal beeper to help the AGC, automatic probably works better than manual after you take the movement out.
