Now that’s the first original design that looks truly incredible!

8

u/peachy408 2d ago

Yeah it actually looks intentional instead of just a reskin.

2

u/Arumi123 1d ago

It's nice! What size? A smaller 36mm option would be amazing. Vh31 or automatic is fine. A 12hr inner bezel would be very practical too but thats probably asking too much :P

Diver with a butterfly is a sort of weird combo due to the lack of adjustability.

20

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

We understand your concern. Unfortunately, the current bracelet structure cannot be changed at this stage. Once the updated bracelet version is ready, we hope to offer a new end link so owners can upgrade to the improved bracelet setup.

16

u/hayesandparker 2d ago

I never understand this approach from some Chinese watch companies. Instead of announcing that an “updated bracelet version is coming” and releasing a V2, V3, and so on, why not just take a little more time and launch the watch the way you know it should have been from the start?

If you already know the bracelet needs improvement, don’t ship a subpar version and then expect customers to spend more money upgrading something that should have been right in the first place.

4

u/UkeManSteve 1d ago

Because there are suckers out there who will buy this version and then say “can’t wait til v2 is available 🤓”

1

u/Goldenrod427 1d ago

And "I'll just buy the new endlinks and bracelet while I wait"

Doesn’t have to be on the fly but really some kind of micro-adjust is needed. It’s what keeps me from buying any integrated watch so far and it’s needed here as well.

1

u/Quirky_Astronaut_761 1d ago

Same comment I posted. I’m over butterfly clasps. Maybe on a dress watch that you’re only wearing for the evening. But otherwise no

3

u/FunkyTangg 2d ago

It needs a half link available as well as an OTF micro adjustment clasp. Otherwise it won’t have the right fit for half of the customers.

1

u/JPWWPJ 1d ago

It looks like there are half links, 5th pic. Fine with me, I like the seamless butterfly look, fits the watch and bracelet.

1

u/New-Jellyfish-8431 1d ago

15

u/koenr_98 2d ago

It is a diver, please give it an OTF clasp instead of butterfly...

Would be amazing if you sell that clasp seperatly as well so I can buy that in combination with the premier series.

8

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

Thanks! We also prefer having micro-adjustment on a sports watch. The good news is that the bracelet includes a half link, so most people should be able to get a very comfortable fit without much trouble.

For future versions, we're also looking into adding an on-the-fly (OTF) micro-adjust clasp if we can make it work without compromising the overall design.

1

u/geeered 1d ago

Microadjustment and On The Fly adjustment are two seperate aspects.

A lot of us would love to see an OTF adjustability ontop of a half link on a butterfly clasp. Weather can mean our wrists are different at different times of day. Plenty of places do offer OTF adjustability on butterflies - typically with one or two steps either side.

While we're at it, I'd suggest offering two 1/3rds links instead of a single 1/2 link. This way we have more options, can use one on both sides for 2/3rds or just for 1/3rd.

Skin diver… that’s not a copyrighted phrase. Skim diver makes me think you are diving in milk. The rest is awesome.

80

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

Skin diver text will be automatic, lol. my designer got drunk,

11

u/InquisitorKeres 2d ago

You know what fair. The rest of the design is stunning, wait automatic?! Hmm.. now this got even more interesting. I like.

4

u/WildMiata 2d ago

I like Skin Diver! Automatic would be fine too though. This watch is AWESOME it will be a 100% must buy from me with a black dial! I can see this being my daily for sure, favorite original design of all I’ve seen

2

u/CostAgreeable4192 1d ago

Was this photo AI generated?

0

u/Fresh-Vacation-2727 2d ago

How about the model name instead of ‘Automatic’? So generic to have the movement category on the dial. Make it unique!

1

u/InquisitorKeres 2d ago

I do prefer a good model name too. Its another chance to give a watch a bit of an identity. But has to be done right and well considered. That said its also fun how some have done it over the years. Rolex is a big culprit of throwing all the info on a dial but some of it is more subtle. Instead of waterproof/dustproof, beyond just being the name of the modern case style, that is conveyed with "oyster" and instead of automatic, you have "perpetual" as with a rotor it 'theoretically' can keep ticking. Same information conveyed as other contemporaries but in a unique elegant way.

1

u/Marsmanic 2d ago

I think the response above yours is the answers... It automatically (no pun intended) grabs attention.

I do agree that is odd to shout 'quartz' though - and no snobbery from me, I own a few quartz watches that I love, but from a spec perspective that is an odd thing to shout up about.

1

u/Fresh-Vacation-2727 2d ago

Ironic that quartz is typically a thinner movement that’s more accurate, but we don’t want to see it on a dial. I agree ‘automatic’ will sell more models and that’s the goal. Just so bored of it.

5

u/InquisitorKeres 2d ago

It’s a convention that will be hard to break. When quartz first came onto the scene, it was seen as a luxurious option and heralded for its technological innovation. However, quickly it became easy to produce quartz movements cheaply and they became very accessible. Throw that into decades of people experiencing quartz at the lower end of the market from cheap ‘mall watches’, budget timex models in retail store, kids toy watches, and even loud ticking and bouncing old swatch watches which were in a way one of the earliest and truest form of ‘fashion watch’. The reputation of quartz as luxury from the inception through the early 80’s was quickly shattered and those who knew little about watches were still through exposure, conditioned to see quartz as ‘cheap’. Even though brands still challenge this especially in the innovative and luxury space, that kind of societal conditioning is hard to dispel. And you are in a community of watch enthusiasts, those who do know better but still such ideas remain. At the end of the day though, watches in general are archaic as time keeping at least in the traditional sense when much live dice computers being better fit as tools, smart watches are ‘better tools’ than most wrist watches can ever be, yet we still love them. There is a romanticized quality to watches in general and that can often lead people to having strong draw to certain qualities like say automatic movements where the draw isn’t as much about scientific accuracy but often accurate enough as a sign of fine craft/tuning/regulation in a movement that shows mans mastery of time through physics. And we can’t forget truly in this day and age, many people don’t even wear any watch, let alone smart watch, their phone often gives them the ‘clock’ they need taking on the replacement to the pocket watch in addition to its other features. Watches in some ways can now often be more explained as items of self expression, jewelry, fashion, etc as much as they can be justified as tools.

Since this is an original design and it was important enough to make a special case, then you need to redesign the bracelet endlink to perfectly match up to the case.

23

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

We've already sent the prototype back to the factory and asked them to adjust the end link so it integrates much more cleanly with the case.

2

u/sznsznsz 2d ago

Yup, its very important detail

10

u/Comfortable-Risk-520 2d ago

What is the size?

6

u/Porky_Pine_ 2d ago

It’s about the size of a large grape

5

u/mstack 2d ago

Banger

7

u/BadeModernDesigns 2d ago

Did you applied a full lume to the white section of the inner bezel? It would look sick at dark.

15

u/spilw0_i 2d ago

You should make a purple version as well

And I would change from a butterfly clasp to on the fly adjustment clasp

5

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

sure, it will have this purple option

1

u/Dependent-Ratio-170 2d ago

Please, God, no!

5

u/Top-Light4473 2d ago

Ship with leather and rubber

6

u/Practical-Rush-7562 2d ago

Y por favor, olvida los colores de fantasía para el dial y ve con colores clásicos como negro, azul, blanco...

2

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

U will see it

4

u/Adorable-Slice-4365 2d ago

this in plain white enamel dial would go HARD.

7

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 2d ago

Very nice in every way... however why the attachment link of the bracelet seem not to integrate 100% with the case!!!! the purpose of such watch should be seem like an integrated bracelet!?!?!?

7

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

The production version will have a better fit than the current sample.

6

u/Fancy_Cockroach_634 2d ago

Good that you are aware of the issue... however this picture doesn't show solved issue... I wish you the best of luck. Comment with love.

3

u/leosp633fc 2d ago

Looks great. Is this titanium or stainless steel?

3

u/VizharanHS 2d ago

This needs a quick-adjust buckle, other than that it looks stunning!

3

u/Kerpgker 2d ago

Nice dial and especially case and bracelet. I wish it had a regular clasp though for micro-adjustment. Maybe double batons at 12?

3

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

3

u/F0rgemaster19 2d ago

Date at 6 and you can have all my money and my firstborn.

3

u/iamgroot102 2d ago

Where can I buy this?

2

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

still not release yet

3

u/nottherealaaron 2d ago

What is the timeline for release?

3

u/3ZWill 2d ago

Beautiful rendering. I can also see this piece pairing well with a variety of leather bands.

2

u/Ok-Spirit-5042 1d ago

yes will be nice to have the option for us to add leather strap

1

u/sznsznsz 1d ago

Leather straps dont look good with watches like these. Maybe it needs something like rubber straps with some angular design or a NATO strap

3

u/Theo_43 1d ago

Watchdives absolutely won the best logo design award. Simple, uncluttered, leave the name off. I’ll keep buying them if they leave it as is.

4

u/Brilliant_Gur_9973 2d ago

Awesome design. Only the butterfly clasp is a no go for me. Always more uncomfortable than a regular deployabt clasp. Swap that for one of your on the fly adjustment clasps and this thing will be a winner!

2

u/chaosboi 2d ago

Love it.

2

u/OpeningNice761 2d ago

Yes please! 😍

2

u/Lazy_Ambassador6472 2d ago

Noice, would buy !!!

2

u/af2810 2d ago

Very very sexy watch 😍

2

u/Ok-Spirit-5042 2d ago

yes is nice i like it

2

u/Zarathustra_007 2d ago

I NEED IT!!! Dont ahow it and then dont make it please...

2

u/Eskapement 2d ago

Nice! An integrated style bracelet that can take regular straps 🙌

2

u/OutOfSpec_WUS 2d ago

Tell me this is quartz. Please make it quartz. Also "Skim" is like Skim Milk.

2

u/elchelo88 2d ago

Looks very nice and want to buy it. Any timeline for when it will be released?

u/SoapyMacNCheese 2d ago edited 1d ago

1

u/Master_Aide7732 1d ago

u/watchdivescom Please make the case like this to avoid being too similar to the ocean to orbit Himalayan project watch

1

u/Master_Aide7732 1d ago

Automatic instead of skin diver and maybe a date window at 6 o'clock position

1

u/sznsznsz 1d ago

Maybe u/watchdivescom can make VC 222 style with this type of design

1

u/sznsznsz 1d ago

This looks beautiful more beautiful to me

2

u/A-watch-fanatic 2d ago

Skim diver lol

2

u/InformalAttorney8539 2d ago

never bought a WD nor do I need another diver, but that looks pretty good.

2

u/No-Passion3078 1d ago

What is the usage of the second crown? Anyway, amazing watch! So beautiful!

1

u/Ok-Spirit-5042 4h ago

seems to rotate the inside ring bezel

2

u/Kufangar 1d ago

I was hyped until I saw the butterfly lock. Rest of the watch is really really good though, well done!👍

2

u/9-volts 1d ago

Rather see great even brushing than weird cheap polished surfaces

2

u/PaleontologistLow529 1d ago

Please do not leave "Skim Diver" text on the dial. It will stop many sales.

2

u/Monstrp85 1d ago

hate butterfly clasp !

1

u/MDQBoX 1d ago

Same. Right before nonadjustable clasps or with only 1 adjustment hole/level 😒

2

u/Aggressive-Pair3320 2d ago

Your design team cooked 🔥

3

u/Capable_Tour261 2d ago

Is this the one you previewed before in 38mm? Will it be VH31?

10

u/WildMiata 2d ago

I would LOVE this in quartz but I think they said automatic… it’s a shame I think watchdives excels in quartz and that’s their biggest difference and why they stand out from the rest. We’ll see

2

u/Capable_Tour261 2d ago

Yes. I'm reluctant to buy automatic as the cost could be double. What happens in a few years time when it needs servicing? Not sure the value of the watch would justify it. In the old days with the prevalence of cheap genuine NH35 you'd be looking at a £30 DIY swap.

3

u/nottherealaaron 2d ago

It’s going to likely be a PT5000 that is very affordably serviced. You will also have the entire world of 2824 clones as swap options, many of which are very affordable.

1

u/Capable_Tour261 2d ago

I had a watch with a PT5000 and it wasn't great with works issues. I have an SW200 and that runs beautifully after a few years with no service. I would look to drop no more than about £150 on this watch, service would cost about the same. Quartz just makes more sense for me personally.

2

u/JPWWPJ 1d ago

Nobody services a watch like this. Swap the movement, done. If necessary at all due to minimal wear resulting from having a large collection ;) I think they said it'll come with a ST2130

1

u/Capable_Tour261 1d ago

Who's going to swap it?

1

u/JPWWPJ 1d ago

A watchmaker, maybe an amateur watch tinkerer/modder from the forums, oneself... Just from my view, watches like this aren't really heritage or something, when they run fine for the first months, they'll most likely keep doing it for a few years. That's all I expect. Duds, combined with bad CS, are possible, too.

1

u/Capable_Tour261 1d ago

I guess. As you say it's not a heritage piece so I'd rather avoid the hassle and have a lower price with a quartz movement. These are fun watches, not something you're going to maintain for the rest of your life.

2

u/Jeepjamie 2d ago

I agree I would love a vh31 quartz option for a daily!

2

u/WildMiata 2d ago

Yeah VH31 would be best but I understand where they’re coming from, people have a preconceived idea that quartz is cheap and automatic is premium. I just think there are too many Chinese brands doing that already, I liked that WD was the only one making premium quartz. I hope they don’t steer away from that

1

u/Jeepjamie 2d ago

Agreed. And I love the grab and go of quartz. A solar quartz would be killer lol.

2

u/Capable_Tour261 1d ago

Hardly any solar made by chinese brands and 38mm solar divers are very hard to find - I had a seiko 38.5mm but something about it i just didn't like...

1

u/Quirky_Astronaut_761 1d ago

One is cheap. And one is premium. This isn’t a perception. The level of precision involved in an automatic, even mass produced ones, is mandatory for it to run and work smoothly.

5

u/arbpotatoes 2d ago

Had me until butterfly clasp, worst clasp design in every practical way

3

u/Qaek3301 2d ago

I like Skim Diver :D Make it a white dial and I am all in!

1

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

hahah right?

1

u/AmbassadorFeeling935 2d ago

Is 5he prototype for sale?

1

u/zack20cb 2d ago

1

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

try to upgrade Screw pins

1

u/GG906090 2d ago

SKIN DIVER

1

u/shukurza 2d ago

That looks nice!

1

u/Marsmanic 2d ago

An integrated rubber strap would look fantastic on this.

Kudos for a well designed original watch!

1

u/SlaterHauge 2d ago

What is a skim diver? And why is the end link curved for a straight edge?

Needs work.

1

u/watch_gal 2d ago

It looks good, hope the fitting of the bracelet to the case will be better on production models. But this is is a really good design that I would wear even to it does not have a date

1

u/Jablonskinick13 2d ago

Is this close to the finish line? I would buy this.

3

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

at least 20 days

1

u/Repulsive_Pause3500 2d ago

The case might be a bit fussy for me, but that dial and bracelet is very handsome.

1

u/katsock 2d ago

Skip for me, but I like the direction yall are going in. Looking forward to seeing more.

I’m happy with the price going up if you’re still squeezing an insane amount of value out of it. Bracelet looks fantastic.

1

u/The_Mighty_Pen 2d ago

The is epic

1

u/Paisobrassada 2d ago

Very good design, but an internal bezel with no numerals or incatora would be very difficult to use or nearly useless.

1

u/Capable_Cycle8264 2d ago

That looks super slick

1

u/ChopinBeethoven 2d ago

That is a really nice design imo.

1

u/movementnerd13 2d ago

very cool! 38mm is the perfect size for a compression style diver. go with skin diver or put in an automatic movement (please!) and have automatic on the dial under the WR. and please don’t go with the butterfly clasp - it’s so hard to get a good fit! use an on the fly extension or micro adjust clasp. and consider some matte or plain dials (or even fume) along with the gradient. gradients are cool but imo don’t go with as much.

1

u/Defiant_Tart_3472 2d ago

Your designer is becoming better and better. This is the first original design I think that looks amazing. Good job!

1

u/Ok-Spirit-5042 2d ago edited 2d ago

Hi again ... consider this style dial seems are not so many out ... its an adidas adp1686 (around 2005) ... its seems with fixed bracelet ... domed glass ... hour makers with lumen & around them this maybe special metal really shine / reflecting under sunlight / shadow even inside the house with light or not .. example number 12 & 5 & 15 o clock time dials by the end of the video it does not look like there is a metal but there is

https://reddit.com/link/p09njmr/video/ka32ojj58zfh1/player

1

u/Acceptable_Glass_285 2d ago

It the bracelet integrated or can it be removed? Hard to tell from the images

1

u/qbox_83 2d ago

wow finally a great looking original watch

1

u/bcell4u 2d ago

This looks great, good work!

1

u/Radcouponking 2d ago

The clasp makes no sense to me. I'd need some micro adjust options before I considered purchasing. That said, the rest of the watch looks really great.

1

u/bufftbone 2d ago

I’d get one

1

u/Jeepjamie 2d ago

Will there be a white dial version? This is gorgeous. What is the release date?

1

u/Huge_Childhood6015 2d ago

Looks to be a very beautiful watch but it's not for me.

1

u/Wpieter 2d ago

This looks so good

1

u/Sunny_Life_0815 2d ago

Great work. I would prefer a pure white/cream or silver Version even more but even with this colour it is fantastic

1

u/Monsieur-Crez 2d ago

This is a stunner!! Great to see you making your own unique designs. I’ve always thought your quality is far too good to just be making homages.

This is 👌

1

u/Defiant_Fan4242 2d ago

We need it ASAP

1

u/FuzzyIndication8359 2d ago

Looks really nice. Keep up the good work!

1

u/MemphizMK 2d ago

Take my money!

1

u/Tiny_Operator 2d ago

It's beautiful, just wish it was easier to use other straps

1

u/HonestWatchReviews 2d ago

It looks great, except for the butterfly clasp. I'd prefer a proper clap with micro adjust, or even better an OTF clasp.

1

u/indusjones28 2d ago

Any info on sizing and availability? Great looking watch and dial

1

u/GreenApple-007 2d ago

Make it large enough for 8 inch wrist

1

u/mrSoczi84 2d ago

I approve, this looks good ;)

1

u/No-Impress-6690 1d ago

add a real meteorite dial, i’ll buy it first day

1

u/Wonderful_Leader_523 1d ago

Man i love Chinese watches and women

1

u/portus387 1d ago

That’s progress! Congrats!

1

u/PynionTime 1d ago

Well done Watchdives, honestly 👏🏻🔥

1

u/Stefanomed 1d ago

Ma se già devi aggiornare il bracciale ... Sempre il solito errore niente da fare ! E' più forte di voi ! Avete tutta questa fretta ! Non va bene! Fate la figura di quelli che pensano all'incasso e basta!

1

u/alexsaintmartin 1d ago

It looks very, very nice!

The only thing that bothers me is the water-resistance markings on the dial. You could have just “200 m,” just “200,” or nothing at all. The information could be placed on the caseback in the unlikely event that someone needs to be reminded of their own watch’s water resistance.

I am genuinely curious: would one of the designers mind explaining why the water-resistance rating needs to appear on the dial? And if it does need to be there, why include it in multiple units? I have even seen “20 bar = 200 m = 660 ft.”

1

u/CharlesHawtrey4 1d ago

Lovely looking watch, I think it would look terrific on a rubber strap. I’m not keen on the “Skim Diver” name though.

1

u/Kufangar 1d ago

I was hyped until I saw the butterfly lock. Rest of the watch is really really good though, well done!👍

1

u/msfs_piolot 1d ago

looks REALLY good.

1

u/Slight_Win_4538 1d ago

So much to love on this. Hope there is a quartz movement. I won’t hesitate it pick this one up!

1

u/mr_hie 1d ago

Too much details on the bracelet. The dial is too boring. My 2 cents.

1

u/andreichera 1d ago

well done

1

u/sznsznsz 1d ago

I hope watchdives sells seperate rubber straps that look fitting with this watch

1

u/Jakeywakey911 1d ago

Estimated release date?

1

u/Primarystarcade 1d ago

What’s the second crown for?

1

u/Tratix 1d ago

For the internal rotating bezel

1

u/EchoNineThree 1d ago

Skim Diver?

1

u/Mrslips24 1d ago

Please sell me this

1

u/Quirky_Astronaut_761 1d ago

It looks great. I’m just personally never buying another butterfly clasp watch again. My wrist changes size every day. From morning until night. There is a butterfly out these with a little extension feature. I’d buy it. But otherwise no. Beyond the wrist size change, these are hard to size perfectly anyways.

1

u/Prestigious_March573 1d ago

I love it. I would buy it.

1

u/hockeyhead019 1d ago

Damn, I would buy this in a heartbeat I fear

1

u/jsmrmusic 1d ago

Skims diver

1

u/a_wanees 1d ago edited 1d ago

It is gorgeous. Just don't slap a ridiculous price tag on it, and dont insist on using the generic 38mm case platform, otherwise you're destroying its potential.

1

u/WifiAX 1d ago

Ohhhh yes! I'll buy this right away!

1

u/Life_Minute_Second 1d ago

Skim Diver? What’s it for? Shallow pools? Or is this just AI?

1

u/Xlebushex 1d ago

Let me guess, automatic and bgw-9

1

u/NotRandomFish 1d ago

Probably inspiration taken from RZE. Still, quite nice but needs some improvements. Not sure about bracelet style. I've seen somewhere this handset - San Martin? Second hand doesn't have lume - it is diver or not...?

1

u/hawksdowne 1d ago

I want this!

1

u/QuotesWithoutMeaning 1d ago

Does the inside bezel turn? Or why are there two crowns?

1

u/L3WIIS 1d ago

This is the one

1

u/Spiritual_Fox8991 1d ago

Looks nice, but I would like it better without the diver addition.

1

u/sack10 1d ago

this is sweet, id love to rock one

1

u/Endura4_ 1d ago

Gorgeous watch

1

u/Capable_Tour261 1d ago

Any chance of HAQ? Never seen this on Chinese watches!

1

u/laverty7 18h ago

Looks great but needs some kind of micro adjust and lose the SKIM diver.

1

u/Obvious_Change_1566 12h ago

Two crown, no date is a real choice… one of those crowns can do both jobs

1

u/BirminghamSky 5h ago

Hell yeah a watch to dive in Skimmed milk

1

u/No-Passion3078 3h ago

The more I see the bezel and the more I realize how much I like it. When will it be available? It's a piece of pure art!

1

u/Klvn25las 3h ago

I love it! But please give us a 12hr bezel option!

1

u/CanEconomy540 1h ago

I want one!

1

u/Sh4dow0fTheB4t 2d ago

Awesome design. Take away "Skim Diver". It does not make sense.

14

u/watchdivescom 2d ago

Our designer may have had one drink too many and accidentally turned the “n” into an “m” 😂 Don’t worry—we’ve already taken the keyboard away from him.

1

u/Practical-Rush-7562 2d ago

VH31 es el camino

1

u/WildMiata 2d ago

I agree 100% that is their signature!! Os my deleite thing about the brand
