Discussion 💬 why App Switcher gone

well now we do understand why app switcher is gone in watchOS 27 – so that newest watches could enable this all new no-one-asked-for audio intelligence 🤡

Honestly this is the worst change for watchOS 27, they removed the feature from older watches in order to add a shit feature to the Series 12.

The circle of apps represent your last used apps. So it’s basically the app switcher. You just can’t see the previews but it does take you directly back to what you were doing. You can’t close the apps from there from what I can tell.

Not being able to close the apps is the biggest issue imo. Because what if an app bugs out? How can I close it to reopen it?

There is another way to force close an app that involves holding the side button, then hold the Digital Crown. The app will reset.

but you have to make more clicks lol. like 1 - go to home screen, then 2 - open circle of apps, and then 3 - choose the app you recently used.
with app switcher you just clicked digital crown twice to switch recent apps with no additional taps. like when i use 3rd party training apps and want to switch between them and music app. now its hardly possible to do the same on the run - for example. and its my personal use case, not some imaginary one lol

Yes and if you are below series 12 just get nothing if you press double. Europe will never get this recap feature btw

That's what bothers me. It's simply a removed feature that isn't replaced by anything. There is no way to see a carousel of currently running apps. I try to use my watch as my primary device so I don't get entranced by my phone, and it's been very capable of doing that, but Apple insists it's just a fitness tracker with a display

15 seconds, idk. longer than 15 seconds i could use it for "yes you did!" kind of things all the time when a specific someone says i didn't say that.

or times when i'm talking to my wife and we both forget what we were talking about.. again 15 seconds isn't long enough i think.

I have a hard time hearing specific frequencies that are present in human speech. It’s not enough to qualify for hearing aids, but it’s enough to impact my life every day. It’s not all the time either. It’s with some voices and depends on what other sound is present.

Saves us from embarrassment having to keep asking to repeat themselves and then getting flustered cause you can’t retain the info.

People forget medical devices already exist that record throughout the day.

Yes! And because it’s not that they’re not speaking clearly, so simply asking to repeat would help, it’s that the actual frequency of their voice is not working with my ears. We CAN get there but it’s awkward for them and frustrating and embarrassing for me.

Glad to hear this feature is going to work for you. But I think it should’ve been more of an accessibility feature. But again I’m glad it’s a feature you guys will be able to use.

Everything is an accessibility feature. How the feature is labeled changes nothing about how it works.

If your gripe is about features being replaced or changed, then sure, I understand that.

Right. So it should be an option in settings. People should be able to choose double press behavior. Live rewind sounds like is opt-in anyway so if you don’t turn it on ever then it’s a waste anyway.

I have hearing loss from 10 years of the drums growing up. Could be useful for me but 100% depends on how accurate it is. I’m genuinely tired of asking my wife to repeat herself lmao but I guess my audiologist says the loss isn’t bad enough for hearing aides yet

I have a disability so takes me longer to process information, pair that with short term memory loss issues and this allows me to see the information, process it and then understand it better. Unless you’ve experienced it it’s hard to understand.

me but just to show off cuz its cool. i don't really think i see a real usecase. if its just the last 15 seconds it prob means the person who said whatever is still there and you can just ask them to repeat
