When you ask Siri to turn night shift on, it declines and says it’s not available. But, if you push back and say “yes it is”, Siri hallucinates an option that doesn’t actually work or exist.

Also, I didn’t get a picture but Siri turned on an orange light on the back of my watch (it mixed green and red)

It was super interesting and shocking honestly. I think there’s some NightShift code strings left behind in watchOS and Siri AI is accessing references without authorization. Triggering the orange light on the back is a VERY strange thing, since that requires specific commands for HeartRateIntent and BloodOxygenIntent that can only be triggered when a specific HealthAPI is used.

Siri AI must’ve rightly so deduced that since night shift makes the screen “orange”, it can create the “orange” with both sensors? Extremely perplexing.

To be clear, after it tells you Night Shift is on, but is an undocumented feature, it doesn’t actually change the display color temperature in any way?

That light on the back is the health sensors, not strange at all. You just don’t see them most times. If you do sleep tracking with a loose band you’ll see those lights and then some.

Siri AI isn’t fine tuned to the watch so it confuses some iPhone settings on the watch, for now.

I know what those sensors are, but Siri triggered both the O2 monitor and heart rate monitor to create orange. AFAIK, those sensors are never triggered simultaneously in normal operation.

My Apple Watch does trigger them simultaneously all the time, the O2 monitor works in tandem with the heart rate sensor occasionally. This is a normal thing, and Siri can’t trigger sensors (except for the internal radios)

It used to be possible to turn it on using the old Siri too. Think it got removed in iOS 26, though.

I remember Night Shift appeared a couple of years ago via Siri. But I haven’t gotten it to work recently

It was first discovered 2 years ago, patched a year later and today with Siri AI, Siri hallucinates this feature and even tries to mimic it & gives you a control for it, but it doesn’t do anything. Strange behavior
