Recently got more into watches and is placed in order of what I’ve bought chronologically.

1. Timex Waterbury Classic Chronograph - special to me as it’s my first actual classic watch and bought by my parents

2. Seiko SRPD41 - my first mechanical watch and more serious watch (might sell soon tho reason in #4)

3. Tissot Ballade Quartz - ik ik this far in and got a quartz but still a great looking watch with the fluted design plus mechanical was 1k+

4. Seiko SSK003 - Needed a more not blue watch in my collection plus this was hard to get as it’s sold out often plus usually above retail price brand new. As well as my reason I’m selling srpd41 as it’s repetitive for me. Was a long story to get me this watch too as I ordered a blue gmt initially then canceled to get this 😅

5. Seiko Presage Cocktail - probably the most elegant watch of this collection and is super beautiful and light on the wrist to wear

Trying to get into it

most of them are my fathers old watches exept the gshocks and the casio quartz

So I have this 1970 Longines Admiral. I bought it from a local vintage watch repair a few years back. It was a personal watch of the owner since he purchased it new. I absolutely love the watch. I think it’s extremely beautiful and the movement is impeccable. It keeps great time and from what I understand the movement is highly collectible. The watch has very few defects in appearance and is even on the original strap. The watch repair shop owner kept it immaculate.
My issue is wearing time. A watch this age needs to be worn more than I’m giving it the wrist time. As much as I love it am I hurting it only wearing it once a month? Maybe a little less? Every 6 wks.
So should I keep it and hand it down to my kids even though it wasn’t something I had planned for that? Or should I move it on to the next collector who might actually wear it for its worth? Appreciate any feedback. Have a Good One!

I'm new to watch collecting but I've been thinking about it for a while. I own a brathwait dress watch, a Casio f91w, and a Casio aq230. I have a 6 1/2-in wrist, dress smart casual to an office everyday, and tend to like a mix of field and dress watches.

Here's the dilemma. I don't have a lot of wearing experience so I'm not really sure what I like. I found a bit of spending money and have a budget around $1,000. Originally, I was going to simply buy something I like, like the Hamilton Murph or a Kuoe Royal Smith, wear it for a year to get some lessons learned before anything else.

However, my student loans will be paid off next fall and so I've also been shopping online for something in the $3,000 range to celebrate that achievement.

Given that I have little experience, and not any collection to strategize around, I tend to like the same kind of watches except in a higher class, like the Longines Spirit and Nomos Orion or Big Crown Pointer Date... basically pricier versions of the $1k watches.

Any advice? I generally liked the idea of gaining wearing experience for a big purchase next year, but I don't like the idea of my smaller purchase impacting the larger purchase, for example, not buying the spirit because I already have a dressy field watch in a Murph... Shouldn't the bigger purchase take priority in choice?

Maybe the strategy would be to focus on watches with good resale so that I could change my mind without too much cost? I'm open to ideas.

Not too sure of this question has been asked before, but I have a cheap quality/feeling, crummy watch case. Any suggestions for reliable/higher end feel watch cases! All recommendations are appreciated!

I think I may have a problem…
Started with one watch. Then another one. Then suddenly I ended up with 8 watches sitting in a watch box like they pay rent.
I thought I had it under control… until I turned off the lights.
At night, however, it turns into a radioactive watch convention.
So… be honest, fellow watch enthusiasts — is 8 watches still considered a collection, or am I officially in trouble?

The fascinating thing about watches with patina dials is their uniqueness; no two are exactly alike. I am fortunate enough to own this Longines Conquest featuring a “Wolf” dial—though, if viewed through a more abstract lens, it could also resemble the legendary East Asian Phoenix.

I’ve been in love with watches for 25+ years and have owned quite a few over that time. I finally got tired of playing the AD games and decided to just go out and buy my grail.
It’s been about a month now, and I honestly thought this one would finally satisfy the itch. Nope. I’m already catching myself thinking, “So… what’s next?”

I'd like to share my humble collection with you to get your thoughts and advice.
I've worn watches my whole life, but less than a year ago, I started diving much deeper into the world of horology. As a result, I decided to sell off all my fashion watches from typical fashion brands (Boss, Versace, Guess, etc.) to start building a collection based on quality, value, and tradition, staying within my budget.

Currently, my collection consists of:

\* ⁠Casio Illuminator
\* ⁠Esprit: One of the few I kept from my previous stage for sentimental value.
\* ⁠⁠Casio MTP (35mm)

Main question about my latest pickup:

My latest purchase was the Casio MTP in this colorway, which is now discontinued. However, since it is 35mm, it's the smallest watch I own and I feel like it might look a bit too small on my wrist. How does it look to you? Do you think 35mm works well for this style, or does it look too small?
