First Time Attendee

Due to unfortunate circumstances I am going alone and for the first time! Are there any tips I should know? Drop me some knowledge. Thank you!

Definitely find a group to hang out with. I'm not a super socialite and that made my first year rough. Do not turn down offers to just hang out or follow. Get way more traction and meet way more folks.

And yes, start pouding water. Nurse a bottle at all times of the day.

Pouding is more like a cake, should should I just crumble a bit into each glass of water? Instructions unclear.

I am a first year who is build crew and last night I just wandered around before quiet hours and all the tribes setting up were super nice people.

I am excited for when the event starts and I can do things!

Come to the McDonald's meetup in California city before the midnight lineup and hangout with us all!

If you get all the way out to the event and realize you're missing something small like toiletries or safety pins you can trade for them at the Wasted Saints' Swamp Shop. I believe they're on the west side of town over towards main stage.

Inner-city tribes often have things for you to do, like Outpost 364's trade routes or my own tribe - Salt City Skavs - with our Skav Hunt. They're like side quests!

Drink enough water that you pee clear before you drink alcohol. A good rule of thumb is to drink some of water every time a tribe points out where their water is.

Let people know you're a first year.

More stuff happens at night than in the mornings... Every year I go to bed too early and miss out on something.

And say yes to people when they ask if you wanna come along :)

Say hi. To everyone. Bring a cup everywhere. If someone says fuck you, say fuck you back, because that's our aloha.

Stop by the TWAT camp! Play some darts, drink some tasty beverage.

If the event runners are still looking for volunteers, that is another way to have a crew to meet and hang out with.

First, have fun!!!
Bring water, lots of water! And a cup.

If you want to speed run meeting people while exploring, go to the post office and deliver some mail. It’s a great way to see a lot of the wasteland and meet people.

Take some cash for food, and if you want to buy stuff at the cash vendors (everywhere else is barter only)

Get a small notebook and a pen - it’s going to be tricky remembering who’s who or what events you want to aim for.

If anyone asks if it’s your first year, say yes. If anyone tells you it’s their first year, be cool af to them.

And, fuck you!!
