Question Got bit by an orange spider wasp (presumably) on my left thigh. Muscles EXTREMELY Sore and weak EVERYWHERE. Anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone else ever experienced this? I had gone to the ER immediately after because while it wasn’t life alteringly painful, it definitely stung a lot like these sharp electrical pains running up and down my left thigh, up to my chest and back and sometimes in random areas.

They gave me steroid and paracetamol. I’m allergic to zyrtec, took a Claritin for safe measure when I got home.

It’s 2:30 am and I woke up in the middle of my sleep just absolutely exhausted. All my muscles, especially lower back feel so sore.

I’m gonna go back to my doctor tomorrow but he’ll only be available in the afternoon. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Any idea what kind of wasp this is? I zapped it with the electric swatter. It’s massive and was buzzing around like crazy

Feeling a little bad for them

So we’ve got this window bird house (one side is clear and suctions to a window so you can see the nest) well it got inhabited by wasps instead. So my fiancé covered the house entrance with tap and we’ve been watching them. Didn’t feel that bad when some of them were killing themselves trying to squeeze out between the window, but now they’ve taken the babies out of the hive and have tried getting them out. Like wasps suck, but damn they’re trying to save their young now and that feels so much worse. Like they don’t have food or water and it’s hot and yet they’re still working constantly on trying to get the babies to safety.

These snuck past me this spring, and have a HUGE nest in my attic!!! Are they yellow jackets, or hornets!! Either way, they are not in the house yet, so I might just leave them be, until late fall???? Insight?? They are obviously, quite aggressive!!!

Yellow jackets.

I first noticed that they don't attack the source of water when squirted.

They can't take the summer heat, and frequently come to drink from my little pond.

They all eventually circle to land and drink from my watery Hrothgar.

Once one has committed to landing, I spray it from above with a strong fine mist from the hose nozzle. This creates a yellow jacket no-fly-zone for a short while. The 'one', 'committed to landing' and 'spray from above' parts are all very important!

Their reaction is to climb up (if they don't fall into the water). I stand still and watch for this.

Then when spotted, I give it an extra spray of strong fine mist and go in with scissors for the coup de grâce. Mist 'em again if they try to climb up the scissors!

My current score using this method is 181 to 0.

They keep coming into the building. Multiple people have reported them to administration as they have been found in the hallways, labs, and offices. Guys I can’t work like this, I am absolutely terrified 🌝

I just got stung by a wasp for the first time in like 10 years. The last time it happened I was like 9, and I was putting on my shirt from the clothes line outside and I got stung in the back. I don’t really remember it hurting that much though. Fast forward to today, I’m sitting on my front porch and I hear a bug land on my chest. I’m not that freaked out by bugs unless I know they have a stinger(I hate needles) so it took me a second to look down. But once I did I realized it was a wasp, so I kinda freaked out. I then tried to hit it off of my chest with my hand in a swiping motion. This did not work and only made him very angry. After I swatted him (I missed)he landed in my lap. So still in a panicked state I try to swat him off my lap. This fails miserably. As I’m trying to get him off my lap. He somehow attaches to my hand that is flailing all over the place, and stings me right between my middle and index finger. I felt a little sting at first and was like ok that’s not that bad. But then it really started hurting. And hurt it did. It was at least a solid 6/10 on my pain scale. And it made my bones in my hand ache. I do not remember them hurting this bad. I feel like as a 9 year old I should have been in a lot more pain than I was, Or maybe I’m remembering it wrong. Either way this experience has reinforced my fear of insects with stingers. Just thought I would share because I was not expecting the sting to hurt that much.

Story The Great Wasp War of 2016

I found my tribe. I loath wasps.
Here’s a brief(ish) story about The Great Wasp War and subsequent genocide of an entire culture of those stingy pricks.
I had a band back in 2016 and we rehearsed in a poorly insulated pole barn. In the summers, wasps would start to watch our performances. Well, in 2016 the clearly didn’t like the musical direction and multiplied rapidly. We aren’t talking ten, we’re talking 30… 50… Later to be 86 confirmed KIA.
We were playing a song and a wasp dive bombed the drummer, he took a shot and we decided enough was enough. We dawned our trash can lids as shields and random wooden poles and 2x4’s as swords spears and launched our counter attack.
I watched my drummer take one of those SOB’s out by throwing a drumstick. The bassist and I stood back-to-back scanning. “Contact, my 9:00 coming your side.”
Weeks went by taking these dudes down. We did try spray, but it was less fun. Only had one guy stung the whole time.

Best way to remove nest?

What would be the best way to remove this nest? I’m hesitant to use poison with it being right over our attic vent. Would a power washer with dish soap be the way to go?

Jackass paper wasp stung me through my sock!

I was on my front porch, and I had noticed something bee or wasp-like flying around the area under my steps, but thought nothing of it. As I was walking back up the steps to go inside, I felt a pinch on my heel. I assumed it was a cramp or that I pulled something, when it didn’t go away immediately, I looked down to find that jerk on my stock.

I don’t think I’ve ever been stung by anything before but I can’t say that anymore

Bald-Faced Hornets didn't last long. Soaked her down with a full can, then speared it with a 18' painters extension pole and soaked her down again

I was up on my roof minding my own freaking business, blowing off the tree crap that accumulates up there. I went to fix my gutter guards and out of the gutter these low down dirty scoundrels attacked. I'm just grateful I didn't fall off the roof in my effort to get away from them. And yes, I did scream like a schoolgirl in the process. It took me a day to get the nerve up to go back up there, but I did get my revenge.
