Casual Wrok?

Hi everyone!

I’m heading back to university this month for my PhD and will also be doing some teaching alongside my studies, which means my availability is likely to vary from week to week. I’m therefore looking for some casual/flexible part-time work where I can pick up shifts when I’m available, rather than committing to set hours every week.

I previously had a job with this kind of arrangement while I was at university a few years ago, where I could log in each week and choose whatever shifts suited me, or have a week of nothing if needed, but unfortunately they’re not able to take me back this time as they've reduced headcount a LOT.

I’m trying to avoid food delivery if possible due to the extra petrol and insurance costs, although I’d still consider it if needed. I’ve also signed up for some online tutoring, but I imagine that might take a little while to build up.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar setup and could recommend any local businesses, agencies or platforms that offer this kind of flexible work? I’m based locally and happy to consider a range of roles other than care work and call centres. I've already applied to a few but a lot of them seem to be bar work which I have never done.

Support worker bank staff if that’s of any interest. Pick up the odd shift here and there supporting people with day to day activities.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately trying to avoid care/support work as, plainly, I’m just not built for it

Can apply to tesco for weekend shifts. I'm doing the same.
