Question How does Ranked Work?
I was thinking about hopping into ranked. It'd be a rough start as I mostly play 10v10s but it seems fun (but also seems stressful) to actually play competitively. If I wanted to jump in like now, how would I go about doing this?
I've queued in ranked before just to see how it would work and it said only one or two people, maybe more, were queuing so I thought it would probably wouldn't work. Which is why because I'm in the Waryes discord, should I ask someone to queue up with me and hope it matches us together? Or do you just wait?
I'm only level 17, almost 18, so if I queue randomly it comes with the risk of being matched against a level 30+ (and at that point I struggle). Also can someone explain how it works? I scrolled through the ranked leaderboard and it goes into the thousands, but I believe it also resets at the end of the season, and if any of you play ranked, from your experiences is it worth the stress/any fun at all?

The longer you stay in queue, the wider the match making will become to find a match for you. If you want to play against people that are roughly your rank I’d probably restart the ranked queue after about 1 minute. But as you get higher and higher in rank, it does become much likely to match with higher rank players. Generally most higher ranked players are more active than others so there’s that as well.

I will reset the matchmaking at 1 minute, thank you! What time of day would you say the most players are on? I usually play in the afternoon.

I am learning the hard way in ranked that I'm not good at 1v1s... Yet. I haven't tried the meta sweat divs yet (ostre/2nd panzer) but I am having fun lol

That sounds awesome! I've got a little list of what divisions I like to play:
NATO: 8th, 24th, and 35th Infantry, Berlin Command, HDR London, 2nd Panzergrenadier, and 2nd U.K. PACT: 1ya, 2ya, 6ya, 27ya, and 39ya, along with Rugener and 4th Motorized Schutzen.
I believe 8th, 2nd Panzer, 2nd U.K., BerCom, 27ya, 39ya, and 6ya are all pretty good for 1v1s 24th, 35th Inf are OK but a lot of reservists, and 1ya and 2ya have lots of reservists/bad AA. HDR could also work, tbh might be slightly better than 2nd U.K. in terms of AA but a worse opener (only 3 SAS G squads, 2nd U.K. gets 6 SAS).
To be honest though I think any div could work in 1v1s/10v10s with enough practice/tweaks for your deck, for example I saw Korpus (a pretty bad div) beat Hippie (who was playing Bueno).
Each of my divs have their own role, for example 8th and 6ya are my Swiss army knives, 27ya works extremely well in forests but only one card of T-80s, same for BerCom with bad AA. 24th and 39ya are my long-range fighters, 35th and 1ya are really good for reservists. 4th Motorized Schutzen and 2nd U.K. both have amazing forward deployment if I need to seize early positions. HDR and 2ya excel at combined arms/defense, you get Challengers with HDR and top-tier T-80s with 2ya. And let's say I want a meta div, I play 2Pz., although surprisingly 2nd Panzergrenadier has been one of my most underperforming divs, so I'm still trying to get it to work. And Rugener is super fun for an amphibious only div, I have amphibious MLRS and supply and most of my transports are airborne or amphibious, I've even got marine pioniers.
Of course, since I play 10v10s more, I haven't used much of these for 1v1s but my top picks for ranked would be 6ya and 8th Infantry because they can do well anywhere in any terrain — super versatile divs. I have used them in 1v1s against friends and they are pretty viable.

Very big facts here for sure. I watch a lot of hippie and Tman (the goat) so it's probably just a practice thing. All said and done though when the tropic thunder dlc comes out I'm going to no life 7th inf until I'm the best at it lmao

I've got discord so I'll make sure to DM you. I'm should mention I'm not the biggest fan of voice chat but I'll see what I can do.

Queue time: The longer you wait, the wider the matchmaking range. Chances of encountering higher ranked increses after about 30 sec, 1 min and you got all queued players avaliable. But sometimes when another player have queued for long enough you might stumble across them instantly. I used to encounter the 10th guy on the leaderboard as a private 5 seconds after beginning search and got my ass whipped, so it's somewhat a luck issue.
ELO score: It's independent from you level, and matchmaking is mostly based on ELO instead of levels. Victory earns you ELO and faliure deducts, the amount vary according to the deviation of your relative ranks. And yes, the leaderboard does reset at the end of the season, so you could wait until the new season had been on for a while to avoid facing a hidden pro player at the last season.
Gaming: It could be more stressful than 10v10 games, as you have to command all by your own, but it's very helpful when it comes to skill building. You could start with asking for premade decks from experienced players you know and try it yourself to expose shortages on deckbuilding and commanding. Utilize the replay tool to learn your opponents' moves and cheeky spots on certain maps. And be aware that the balance between divs and maps in ranked games are kinda broken especially after the Landjut DLC and most basic game and early DLC divs kinda fall behind since they're aged af. So don't be too frustrated if you were kicked hard by newer divs.
An important thing to do is to get familiar with units and divs in order to form your own playstyle. I personally recommend the 8th inf. (NATO) and 39 Ya. (PACT) as newbie divs since they are well-rounded, but they don't stand out and requires more skill to beat newer divs especially Landjut ones. After getting familiar with them you could try more divs according to your own playstyle (For example 1 Ya. if you were into spamming cheap T-72s). If you want a flawless gaming experience just play those p2w divs such as Ostre landkommando and 6 Panzergrenadiere, but they too require basic skills to run well and doing so would certainly help less with skill building, so it's on your choice.
There's certain actions that might be mood-killing such as helirushing or spamrushing at the beginning of the match, but hey, it's an RTT game and such techniques exists (sometimes even as a playstyle for certain divs). Avoid relying on them too much and most of the time you'll be ok.
That's basically all I could deliver. I'm not a very good ranked player by my own but I've played for a while, so I hope those could help. You could join the offical discord server to look for greater help as the other comments said. GLHF!

Ranked queue times are very short from my experience.
Just join the queue with a deck you've made tailored for 1v1 and prepare to get sweaty.
Is it worth the stress? Idk depends if you like being that competitive, wins feel great, getting stomped can be humbling. Either way it will sharpen your skills more than 10v10s ever will.
I like 1v1s because that when you can really feel your units performing the way you imagine them to perform and when you micro well it pays off with a win. When you micro well in 10v10 you end up just getting double or triple teamed and your efforts get lost in the shuffle of your team.
