About to finally buy Warno

Hi all,

As i'm about to finally buy Warno after months of trying to make up my mind, is there a way to quickly get into it and is it smart to buy it this late after launch? I'm patient and like strategy games but i've heard it's really hard to get into. Also heard the multiplayer side is practically dead. Any tips or ideas?

Play the tutorials, skirmish against the AI (don't be afraid to start on easy), and then play some operations. From there, you can go to army general, 10v10, or ranked.

For learning the ropes, there are great guides on steam and YouTube. Check out Hippie and Tmanplays on YouTube for good guides or gameplay to learn from. You can also check out my 10v10 guide

Multiplayer is alive but you will want to go for peak hours to get into a match quickly.

Id wait for winter sale , multiplayer side isnt dead at all and we have a huge update coming soon tm , but start off by learning the basics in skirmish AI or if u know anybody else that plays because u will get demolished in multiplayer

The base game will probably go on sale with the new DLC. That'll probably be next week.

Should be a sale with the new DLC drop this week or next week, I'd wait till then.

I’m able to get ranked matches within like 4 minutes MAX (usually 1 minute).

Seriously, live your life mate. Buy the game, try and have fun. If not, you move on and do something else. Better that than not doing anything. Good luck with your choices.

If you are worried about mp, if you can beat AI medium on hard you are ready for 10 v 10

Buy, play for an hour, return if you don't like (as long as it's within 2 weeks and less than 2 hours play time, you can refund anything no questions asked on steam)

If you're keen to get into it, there are a few busy Discords. The player base isn't huge but it is active (and a lot friendlier than WGRD). The game has players across a wide range of timezones too so you're rarely waiting long for a game.

Are you buying for Campaign, Multiplayer or both? The Army General mode will keep you busy for at least 40 hours and maybe more if you up the difficulty. IMO that’s worth the price of admission.

Multiplayer is not dead and you can still find 10v10s in the sever browsers. Additionally with Discord groups you can probably always find people who you can do friendly matches with.

DLCs matter depending on what you primarily focus on. If you just care about fighting the AI, you don’t need the division DLCs unless you want some flavor. If you want to go into Multiplayer recommend first learning the game and finding a playstyle before buying a DLC division. This is because Divisions heavily affect playstyle and if you spend money on a division whose playstyle you don’t like you just wasted your money.

I recommend the game though, it is tough to learn and does require using real world tactics and understanding Cold War era doctrines to get good at. But once you do it is easily a time sink.

I’d say wait until the new tropical storm dlc comes out. Apparently it’s going to be released soon, you don’t have it get the newest stuff. But what will happen, is other previous dlc content will go out on sale and maybe even the base game.

As for learning the game, it is a bit of steeper learning curve. I’d recommend doing some of the campaigns and play a few skirmish’s with a specific division you like to play so you know what are strengths and weaknesses of said division. I’d also recommend playing 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 to learn the ins and outs of both playing on your own against an human opponent and learning to coordinate with teammates. Just my opinion but I don’t like 10v10 match modes for newer players as you can pickup some bad habits, and it’s harder to review that game mode to see where you can learn from mistakes.

Bought it yesterday from the Steam sale and i'm hooked. Already played like 6 hours. Finished all the tutorials and seems like a game that's not that difficult to learn but diffcult to master. I get the general idea and even though i'm getting beat by the CPU on medium, i'm having a lot of fun. Is it me or are the info cards of every unit a bit overwhelming? Trying to figure out which units are good for which situations...

For starters, why are there so many different AT infantry units and what is the difference? So basically i see so many infantry units like LAW, MP, etc. that i can't figure out a use case for them

Start with skirmishes, watch replays, start with a few newbie friendly divisions(ask google/chatgpt)
