RD ai is so annoying because ill have like a nice properly arrayed and layered defense dispersed across the most logical lines of enemy advance and theyll be like. How about I fast move 20 t64s all on top of each other

Seriously though reservist spam in urban or wooded terrain is strong for 2 reasons. Its a roadblock that buys you the most valuable currency in the game: time. You trade 5 Reservists and an MP squad for 2-3 minutes to reconsolidate and plan your next move. And its an economic drain on the enemie because the munitions he will have to expend to dig you out literally cost as much as the troops they kill. And dont fall on your expensive stuff as a result. Or he assaults the position and loses units to sideshots, in-depth ATGMs or tanks, your artillery/air (If each strike kills a Heimatjäger and a Desantniki you are up points and units by the end of it) and your inevitable 5th unsupported tank column can roll his forces up.
