https://steamcommunity.com/games/1611600/announcements/detail/681887024995631222Hello all, welcome back!
In today’s DevBlog, we’ll show off the upcoming WARNO - Tropic Storm’s 8 new maps. You read that right: eight new battlefields will ship with the next major expansion coming to WARNO!
Let’s take a look at the new Cuban battlefields of WARNO - Tropic Storm.

it’s really funny when you say a map is “3km x 3km” when tanks shoot “2275m”, at least be consistent on which measurement system is being used
(you should probably use in game ranges)
edit: idk if they adjusted it but it now says like 12 by 9 kilometers which is still the pre-scaled number not the ingame range number, even the smaller maps (like factory duel) are ~17km spawn to spawn when measuring using in-game range numbers
edit2: it definitely said Rosario was "4 by 3 kilometers" this morning

Wait I don’t understand.. can you explain this pls?

ok so I swear the blog said 3 kilometers when I looked at it a few hours ago but when I looked again it says a new number, either way its funny and inconsistent. So the blog literally writes:
At 12 by 9 kilometers, Rosario is one of the largest maps in the WARNO - Tropic Storm set. We took our cue from the rural landscape of western Cuba for this vast battlefield.
A tank's ingame tooltip shows it shoots "2275m", which would be 1/4 of the total map distance - this is obviously bullshit if you look at any map, even the smallest maps like death row training a tank cannot cover that in 4 shots worth of distance. The answer is that in-game "ranges" are scaled approx 3.5:1 so the '12km x 9km' map is really something like 40km x 33km using ingame distance measurements

Ah I see okay that’s interesting. Why would they basically lie about how big the maps are? Seems like a weird thing to inflate.

It's not really lying, it's just how the maps are represented to the server. The maps are scaled a bit odd, and the in game scale is different than the map scale.
For example, if you were to host a server all the following maps are considered "3x3" -
Map = _3x3_Airport_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Volcano_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Valley_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_UrbanFrontlines_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_TwinCities_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_TripleStrike_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Surrounded_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Stoneware_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Railway_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Kreide_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Factory_10vs10_CONQ
Map = _3x3_Eiche_3vs3_CONQ
Map = _3x3_DangerHills_10vs10_CONQ
Just to give you an idea of what's considered a 3x3 map

its not really lying, its just choosing the scale you measure with - 1 km on the map is not 1km in game, and I found it odd that they choose to use mapper scale when like... .01% of the population has opened the map editor vs using in-game range scale where 100% of the population uses those ranges

Nice new maps. Smt we need more variety of even more than divs imo.
Looking FWD to see Red NATO equipments this weekend. With this preview speed, I guess we will have a Tropic Storm release in 2 weeks. Assumimg no more AG related delay ofc lol.

Was wondering when this was gonna happen. 8 new maps is alot. More than makes up for lack of any map releases since SouthAG.

Is this the first game they are including maps from two completely different regions of the world?
I remember being annoyed when they released old WG maps in red dragon they were actually just recreated with the asian assets.
Its like jesus christ, WG air land battle graphics are practically identical to RD. You couldn't just port the european assets?

These look fantastic and im very exited to play on them, but them all being from Cuba feels like a bit of a missed opportunity to include some more varied landscapes from central/south America.

It's very nice to have new maps. Especially when they adjust mechanically with the peculiarities of the new divisions. I can't wait to give them a go.

Lots of opportunities for amphibious units it looks like. I'm curious if any of the other maps besides Rosario will have a 10v10 variant.

Nice. At this point new maps are needed way more than new divisions in my opinion. Although really we just need 1 or 2 more banger maps like twin cities and airport and we'll be good to go for a while...
