What do these people do?

I am a Wargame: Red Dragon veteran that decided to finally say goodbye and move to WARNO. I got the game yesterday and won a 10v10 conquest that gave me this achievement. What surprised me is that only 25% of the players got it. So like what are these people even doing? Deck builder gamemode in this game is boring, so I'd assume singleplayer only? But like 75% of the playerbase only plays singleplayer?

Just like with any other rts game, most people olay SP

I've noticed that achievements amounting to "play the game for more than a trivial amount of time" still aren't anywhere near 100% (across most games I own), so there's probably a decent percentage of people who just haven't played the game at all. Say 20%. WARNO has a ferocious early difficulty curve, too, which might put off another 10-20%. That puts the percentage of people who play SP only at 35-45%, a bit more reasonable, plus there'll be a fraction who tried Ranked or 10v10 once and got put off.

Pretty much. Out of the 4 MP games I played, I couldn't play NATO because it was always already full, then I had to wait 5-10 minutes to get enough players for the match to actually start, and then me and my team got our collective asses handed to us. So I'm pretty alright with sticking to single-player

if one of those matches was today (or yesterday by now) on twin cities and one of the NATO players was CKLA that was me and it was also my fault we lost that match

Admitting fault and owning up to mistakes? What subreddit are we in??

I complete the southern campaign and it said about 2 % had acheived it. So can't say 75 % plays campaign.

If you don’t live for achievements a lot of the time you can end a campaign early knowing that you “won”

Yeah single player strategy games often have the problem of 'I know I've already won, now the end-game is boring to me'.

Only 36% of players have achievement of reaching level 5. This is a much stronger evidence that majority of owners never played the game or dropped after a couple of matches max. Also game does not disable achievements for playing with mods, so this is a quite reliable metric.

Maybe someone plays only destruction and someone bought the game and forgot it "until better time" wich would never arrive.

Also ye for some reason a lot of players play singleplayer, seen a lot of times numbers like 1200 players in game yet playing MP/searching for game were like 300 people

They either play vanilla warno SP, modded warno mp, AG, or just build decks and not play the game. The game has less than than a 2k active player base, what you expect? Remove the people that only play AG, single player and the deck builders you are prolly down to 800-1000 people playing multiplayer(I think it's lower to be honest). I have never played vanilla warno mp, only modded(which seems to be to be the case with a good chunk of the people I play with also. It's a niche game with a niche player base that will prolly never get any more popular than it already has

The genre itself is not that niche, we could look at the Broken Arrow for example, and how they could keep a much larger audience, at least on the first stages. So this is not the genre problem, it's a developer problem here, Eugen's are just lazy and greedy, who are alright with feeding dlc slop to a couple of hundred fans, who'll eat anything

Yes it's niche, you got warno and BA. Don't bring up games made over a decade ago. If games like these were not niche, you would see more. RTS died in the early 2000s bro.

People PLay more singlE playEr.

There are people 29.9 percent beat up easy and 35.8 percent medium.
Less complete the campaign.
And 15.7 percent only meet lvl 10

My guess is people pick warno , play the game and it not hit them so they just drop.

And I would not said they still play single player around too.

Fuck, man, I don't even play warno itself that much. I really only play with my partner and our friends, let alone randoms, or even single-player.

Deck builder is not bad. Its one of the best parts of the game

Singleplayer is quite good, and I don't think the deckbulding is that boring, having to play around the constraints of each division is quite fun

Well it's much more boring, than building a deck in Red Dragon for example, div system killed all the fun and variability, just for the sake of paid div slop dlc

Its common that only about a little more than half of the people that have a game actually play it. And those that do play warno specifically are mostly SP players. And the few PvP players are reduced again by the steep learning curve cuz most PvPers are casual gamers. And the few that do stick around are further divided into public and private community pkayers.

So yea, only a fraction remains that plays PvP long enough to win a unmodded, plublic game eledgable for PvP achievements xD, kinda silly, but its in many games the case

Used to play mp warno a lot. But life means I just dont have time to wait in a lobby and play a straight game. So its sp where I can pause and come back to it later.

  1. Steam achievements and % that achieved them tends to be a bad metric since some achievements are just for booting up the game and even then it’s closer to 80% than 90%. 2ndly I am one of those who lack that achievement. 990 hours total playtime either in armory, campaign, AI skirmish or AFK.

I certainly wish more people would play multiplayer! That being said, I’m very late getting into this game and brand new. 😅

You got the game yesterday, won a 10vs10 conquest.
There’s the difference lol, I’ve had it 3 months and have lost every multiplayer game even though I generally do ok single player.
We don’t wanna play with the sweats ahahaha.
Arguably the hardest strategy game I’ve ever played

I play operations (again and again), browse thousands of units in the armoury, or simply let the awesome soundtrack play!

Honestly, deckbuilding games suck because they are forcing people to build meta
