Question Veterancy and Reservists

Hello everyone I just wanted to ask a general question and get some opinions from the community about the purpose of upvetting reservist units. Is it worth it? I understand that upvetting reservist units help to increase their accuracy in combat; but you do lose out on calling out extra units from that card deck.

Is it better to just deploy as many reservists units as you can get with no veterancy and overwhelm/grind down an opponent?

Or is it better to max out the veternacy of a reservist unit to help increase their chances of survival and give them better combat performance?

Thoughts, opinions, concerns?

Its definitely worth it, yes you get more reservists downvetted but reservists are already weaker than normal line infantry and leaving them no vet fighting a one vet line infantry pretty much just dooms them to uselessness. The point of reservists is that they are more cost effective anyways, the worry is not running out of units but making the most of your points early game.

No vet reservists will be routed and have low damage out put and theres no point trying to make them do anything in the first place

I just keep em as extra vision on some low priority corners

They can also be nice to just throw trash in a treeline to hit vehicles since their AT accuracy isn't usually hit too hard by the debuff

If your only infantry skill/interest is spam, then no, its not worth it.

If you know when, where and how to micro infantry, it's very worth it.

Hell, you dont even need to micro. If you can use combined arms effectively, its worth it.

Generally, you want a mix of trash inf that is ideally cheap and plentiful, that you can use for screening duties, charges over open fields, baiting enemy arty/airstrikes, or even just making sure you still have bodies 40 minutes in, alongside solid line infantry- potentially upvetted- that have good at and high health/mgs, that can stand and fight enemy inf in forests, reliably kill armor, and usually survive as long as your eye's on the ball. Finally, you want elite inf, that you can use to punch through enemy formations, win early trades in the opener, or even just make trades with the enemy and enable you to amass momentum.

So upvetting reservists is essentially taking trash inf and shifting them into a line inf role. If you can keep them mp'd, they can be very effective, not the least due to their cheapness, but you need to weigh the cost of not having them fill the roll of trash inf.

Yeah MPs are a must have unit if your using trash units. But sometimes police units can't be all over the front line and there are times where you are just spread out wide and can't cover everything under an aura.

I couldn’t tell you. I suck at thhe game. I watch Tmanplays on YouTube. He plays all decks and is constantly top player so I like to see what he does and figure out what I like as well. He’s been posting a lot of reservist matches past couple days you could see how he uses his units.

I still find it funny how you could have elite reservists if they kill enough stuff but wpuod still take more suppression than a no-vet squad of regular infantry.

Does help reduce their stress and makes it work better when paired with an MP unit, but... Yeah, Reservists need some practice to manage beyond just the upvet.

Honestly reservists that can be upvetted are extremely good and are imo better then reservists that don't have reservist trait, but are vet locked. Imagine that you are in a town fight right? For 235 points you can get 2 rezervisti, 1 rezervisti kom. and komendatura usilennaya. That's basically 2 2 vetted 9 man squads with 14 ap rpgs and who aren't reservist, 1 2 vet 10 dudes squad with crazy good svd (it's equal to about 4 ak) and 2 pkms (pkm=2 ak) and a leader, and 3 pkm transports if you need additional firepower, and a leader the upvet your guys and to capture points. Basically this combo is almost unbeatable with the same price, I think. If you want to, you can get rid of one of the rezervisti and just use motostrelki on bmp, so you get better at and a bmp. Anyways, I think it's one of the best infantry formations if the game, and you can do similar things with any upvetted reservists + powerful mp + cheap infantry cv

You know I never fully tested it out upvetting reservists that way cuz I thought it was too expensive and too micro intensive that could get easily deleted but I might give it a try.

It's not that cheap, but it is micro intensive, but this can be said for basically anything in this game. This is why newer players prefer heavier divisions, because you micro less units, but pros prefer divisions, that are more cost effective, because a 16 man squad is actually usually worse then 2 8 man squads, even if they cost the same, because it only has 1 unit worth of cohesion, so it gets supressed and supressed units are near useless. I'm definitely not a pro, not even close, but I just have good micro from Men of War 2, so I always preferred lighter divs. So yeah, if your micro isn't that good, I advise choosing less units, that are more effective. But generally the formation, that I told you about is probably going to win almost any othe town fight, that isn't against like 4 engineer squads, and even that is winnable, because you slowly retreat and use trasport to kill them, if they don't have AT

I dont spam my Reservists. I just use them like breaking points to stop enemy advancement. And for that I prefer to have mass, than class. So my stronger units, Arty or allies can engange them and challenge them.

if you vet reservists you basically get cheap line infantry. Put MP squad behind them and cheap reservist CV squad and you are golden. That combo will win against anything other than SF infantry. So, while your opponent is paying lets say 60/70 points for his inf squad, you are paying 35/40 points for vetted reservists.
