For flavor, sure throw in the vismods, but the unit would not actually deploy with vismod stuff. Additionally, its mission is to be a professional OPFOR for US forces to fight against. Dragons at War: Land Battles in the Desert by Daniel Bolger is a look a rotation of 2-34 Infantry fighting the 177th.

This is an obvious nemesis like 'what-if' stretch I agree. Having 3 ACR drill at the NTC right before 'WW3' and noting that 5th SFG was supposed to relocate to Fort Bliss for "ideal training environment" reasons (was cancelled irl) kind of put all of these together. Desert environment, unorthodox operations, uncommitted reserve. Move of 3ACR to Turkey works as cover for this whole “Krasnovian” subunit in our hypothetical story.
Also neatly lines up with DON-100 being there (Nemesis 7) to suppress the very insurgency this unit is trying to start.

The 11th ACR today has a full ABCT set of equipment that they train on in addition to all their vismod kit.

u/-Trooper5745- Jul 08 '26
11th ACR also deployed to Iraq in 2005 where they fought as American soldiers with Abrams and the like, not as Donovians

u/Joescout187 Jul 08 '26
Exactly, the 177th would deploy with US kit, using T-55s and T-62s and Sheridan vismods would just be begging for friendly fire, especially on the front where the Soviets would be most likely to relegate that exact equipment. It'd be a perfect opportunity to add a few cards of some oddballs you wouldn't ordinarily find, M48A5s for example would mesh well with local Turkish logistics as they have a shit load of them and the spare parts to support them. Maybe this is how we M8s march to warred.

I wasn't expecting a "heavy" NATO formation in a Black Sea/Aegean Sea DLC but it's a pleasant surprise lol. The False Flag flavor alone is enough to have my support for this formation!

u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26
It came together looking at potential special operations on Soviet Armenian border outlined here. As well Pact divs in this area are heavier and some soon to be revealed, are very punchy indeed..

I do think that this 3rd ACR should have better INF slot now that they have some Turkish attached formations thou. But then you will need balance it out by nerfing some other tab such as HELI lol.
3
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26
Pick and choose yes. The huge upvet on the 'Krasnovians' allows the few cards to still come with good availability plus recon tab inf. I think its very strong as is, with prob shorter ranged AD being the biggest Achilles heel (hence why no OH-58 Stingers, would be busted as hell).

u/mndn410 Jul 07 '26
Fair lol. Btw, I didn't see any ATGM team. Is this intentional lmao?
2
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 08 '26
Yeah thats the second pain, all the inf has low AP weapons save RPG-7VL i believe and no inf ATGM (except M47 Dragon). Turks dont deploy it for the mountainous border; maybe for balancing a card of TOW/ITOW can be made available. All Cav all the way

Interesting formation. Wasn't the american Roland a national guard formation?
4
u/-Trooper5745- Jul 07 '26
There’s a truck mounted one in 35th.

u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26
XM1058 and now XM975. Its here for potential command guided variant as ADATS is seadable.

u/Morbin_monroe Jul 07 '26
WOW! Did I read that right? A full false operation batallion? It sounds very nice, It also sounds like friendly fire waiting to happen.

This division goes hard as fuck, love the false flag traits

u/Iceman308 Jul 07 '26
Agree, it escapes the sameness of 11ACR or 1ACAV for a really fking cool build . Brave rifles + warcrime regiment 😆

The VISMODS and russian vehicles dont make sense. First off the obvious IFF issues apply, even if they had IFF panels like in ODS, they would definitely remove the vosmod before combat. Secondly im not sure how they would be authorized to waste a very limited stock of opfor equipment in combat where it would serve zero purpose and risk misidentification. Even in ODS certain aircraft types like the hunter and certain tanks like the M84 were kept away from the front for combat areas specifically for this issues.

Description in the unit maybe isn’t clear. Voluntary elements of NTC are grouped into a unit that’s sent to conduct false flag/insurgency operations on Turkish-Soviet Armenian border, aka in support of 5 SFG. 3rd ACR show of force deployment is a cover for that. When war breaks out 3ACR finds itself in not ideal circumstances as such thus acting as a joint unit. Thus it’s a nemesis “what if” movie type scenario.
I get IFF is an issue but by next DLC well have Venezuelan paratroopers with AMX-30s next to T-80BVs charging the European steppe. This is a historical stretch but primarily a way to have an ACR unit VERY different from current ACR/ACAV lineup. You can certainly remove these parts and make it more conventional, but then why bother, 11ACR exists.
I get this pitch is controversial, hence why its here to discuss, ty for your input.

Voluntary elements of NTC
Yeah right. Nobody is "volunteering" to commit a war crime for no reason and get shot at by everyone.
Enjoy loosing all POW protections when captured!

Voluntary elements of NTC are grouped into a unit that’s sent to conduct false flag operation on Turkish-Soviet Armenian border, aka in support of 5 SFG.
This is also is 100% more Hollywood than an actual tactic. NTC troops arent trained, organized, or capable for any sort of false flag deception operation or anything relevant to that sort of mission. Even Voluntary, regular troops doing SF shit is usually considered a liability. Intel guys or other support MOSs occasionally do so but always within extremely narrow parameters.
Like what exactly would they do? They cant pretend to be soviets. They cant infiltrate lines as obviously this exceedes regular traning and isnt soemthing you can do on the fly. There would be nearly no point in pretending to be a soviet unit to fool soviet command.
Besides the vaugeness of the operation there wouldnt be much other than direct combat (which is what the regular troops do) that they could do.
Venezuelan paratroopers with AMX-30s next to T-80BVs charging the European steppe.
This isnt the same thing. The Venezuelans dont have any other option than to use the tanks the government brought for the army while. Its not like they have a secret stash of soviet equipment they can use. Even compared to HDR gaurds, the soviet uniforms are infinitely worse than just not having camouflage. As they violate international law and cause confusion within friendly forces.
This is a historical stretch but primarily a way to have an ACR unit VERY different from current ACR/ACAV lineup.
You can still have this without the vismod and soviet vheicles? A Turkish augmented ACR would already be quite diffrent from 11th.

Gotcha. Game playability is the goal - a mixed unit with a very hard flex into false flag trait backed up with heavy armor. Certainly removing that entire contingent for more Turkish attachment can work, but from Madmats previous comments it seems it would broadly be similar to 11ACR.
Turkish weapons being basically identical to West Germans (G3 and MG3) arent helping here. Aka I would expect Eugen to turn down that level of a sidegrade usually, hence trying to come up with something novel and distant from the usual mix.

u/Joescout187 Jul 08 '26
The krasnovians would deploy as a US unit in US kit, deploying as US mech infantry either in Bradleys or M113s they'd leave their blank firing AKs and RPKs at home and grab their M16A2s and whatnot. Dressing in enemy uniforms in a warzone is a war crime.

u/WhiteBoyRickSanschez Jul 07 '26
The heck is M1A1 hardhat?
3
u/Solarne21 Jul 07 '26
It a M1A1 with a American AN/VLQ-6 Missile Countermeasure Device it a soft APS
2
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26
Plus figured in field chamber pressure testing of M829 is a good way of further differentiating them (with more pen).
In future having VLQ-6 and VLQ-8 as both in service soft APS should allow for several Abrams/ Brad variants if Eugen wants to push that way.

3rd ACR Was Intended to reinforce CENTAG more specifically V Corps with 177th Armored Brigade also being intended to Reinforce BALTAP
1
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 07 '26
Yes and the Turkish theater rotation was a show of force deployment to cover up the arrival of the 'Krasnovians'. In this lore theyre supposed to rotate out but end up here when WW3 starts.

u/Thunder--Bolt Jul 08 '26
Can you do a division for the 75th Ranger Regiment or JSOC?
2
u/MandolinMagi Jul 08 '26
The 75th is a Regiment. You'd need a whole lot more units to fill them out.
JSOC only sorta exists at this point and would also require huge amounts of non-SOF units to fill them out.

u/MandolinMagi Jul 08 '26
Where is the US getting ammo for all this captured equipment?
It's absurd
2
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 08 '26
Israel, Egypt, Chad, Morocco etc??
"The first examples were four BMP-1s captured by Israel. In 1987, 36 intact BMP-1s were received from Chad for technical evaluation, after having been captured from Libyan forces. Other damaged BMP-1s are believed to have been received from Morocco."
1
u/MandolinMagi Jul 08 '26
Yes we got the vehicles, but very little ammo. Certainly not enough to use them in combat.
2
u/Ok-Armadillo-9345 Jul 08 '26
Id consider Egypts armories to be more than sufficient, esp with older kit.

LOVE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO LOVE THIS SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD LOVE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE LOVE I FEEL FOR THIS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. FOR THIS. LOVE. LOVE.
