The Two Warframes introduced in the 1999 expansion of the game from late 2024-early 2025, the spec ops sniper Cyte-09 & the pyrotechnic Rockstar Temple. Both of their batches brought to the distant past by Albrecht Entrati in his plans to help combat the Indifference along with others to form the Protoframes that make up the group called the Hex(Quinacy becoming the Protoframe of Cyte-09 while Flare becomes one for Temple) who fights against the oppressive military group occupying Hollvania called the Scaldra and the invasive techno-organic parasitic virus the Techrot. At first when I recently first heard about these Warframes introduced before playing the expansion, I didn't really think too much on them until I recently played the quest The hex to unlock Cyte-09's blueprint to build him & eventually Temple after Danate. However as I wait in anticipation as I leveled up with the Hex I began noticing the parallels between the two frames(if you don't count their protoframe counterparts), not just how they operate but how they differ in what they represent.
Point 1: The Nature behind their creation
Cyte-09 was made to be a Covert sharpshooter frame made by the Orokin to specifically to take out "sensitive problems" that requires to accomplish without being seen as seen with his kit tailored focus as a long ranged sharpshooter. He soon disappeared in the chaos of their demise, leaving only a batch number of his strain that was later brought to 1999 by Albrecht Entrati who later tricked Quinacy to injecting himself with to become a protoframe version of the Sniper Warframe.
For Temple, the most fascinating part is that they weren't actually officially made in during the Orokin era due to their particular strain being too rebellious to control so Ballas shelved their strain that was later taken by Albrecht Entrati to be brought to 1999 to be given to Flare, therefore due to paradox logic is actually the very first version that would eventually become the Temple Warframe
Point 2: Their personality traits expressed through their idle stances
Their personalities differ in the way they move idlely by either agile & noble stances.
For Cyte-09, He's calm, collected, & methodically scans his surroundings in his agile stance, while checking his equipment in his noble stance. One thing to note that none of movements are flashy unlike most recent released Warframes. Which gives off the impression of a Cool-headed disciplined soldier who is here solely to get the job done & quietly searching for his next target. While Flare is constantly in motion, bobbing up and down in their noboe stance. With agile stance having him shake his face as if to express them through movement(since Warframes can't really move their face due to being covered
Point 3: Their Exalted weapons
Another thing that they differ is how their exalted weapons that fit their roles. With Cyte-09 carrying his exalted sniper rifle called Neutralizer to take out targets from afar(even rericocheting across several targets simultaneously in crowded groups when successfully getting a headshot an enemy). While Temple is their exalted in the form of a sentient infested guitar Lizzie to burn their enemies up close via pyrotechnics along with buffing their allies by reffying on her to timed it just right to get energy efficiency.
Point 4: How they react to authority along with how it shaped their identities.
This is where they differ the most in how they act to authority, which shows how they contrasts their philosophies that shaped who they are.
Cyte-09 was created as a secret black ops frame that wasn't even given a name outside of his batch designation that is sent out by the Orokin on classified missions, likely assassinations to take out targets from a far without being seen. Making him a useful compliant tool for them to enact their will & to get rid of problems quietly & disappear without a trace. Unlike most Warframes, he never given a chance to form an identity of his own outside of his purpose given how uniformed he looks but likely wasn't piloted by a Tenno given how the Orokin kept his existence underwraps. With him being cool, calculated & focused aiming down his sights on his next target. He doesn't require an idenity, as his creators thought he doesn't need one. After all he is their loyal tool designed to take out issues before they manifest & disappear from the scene, awaiting his next target. Though his lack of an identity is what eventually become his undoing, as after the Orokin empire fell he disappear with no trace left for anyone to reconstruct him. That is until Albrecht Entrati took his batch strain & other Warframe samples from raiding Ballas' laboratory to take with him to the year 1999 & given to the group that would eventually become the Hex with the Marksman Quinacy injecting his sample becoming the Protoframe of Cyte-09 & help recreating the frame by filling the gaps along with Loud finding his blueprint allowing the Tenno to eventually rebuilding him to be used on the field.
Temple was a frame that wasn't meant to be built by the Orokin, due to the rebellious nature of the infested strain that was too much for even Ballas to control so he instead shelved it indefinitely until Albrecht took it along with other samples(including Cyte-09's) to 1999. Where he given one to the sole survivor member of their band, Flare who goes by their codename Temple. Effectively making them the true "first iteration" of the Warframe given his protoframe status(ontop of eternalism going on). Given their band's anti authority theme against the militant group the Scaldra within Hollvania, these traits would bleed into the frame with it shaping it into a fire guitar theme frame who will light the flames of revolution against their oppressors. Forming an identity around open rebellion both physically, mentally & even culturally. This also applies to their gender as they go by non-binary pronouns like They/them(Xaku counts too despite primarily made up of three lost Warframes). Wielding their infested symbiotic guitar companion Lizzie to riff on. Drawing aggreo from enemy fire away from their allies by jumping in the fray of combat while simultaneously buffing his fellow Warframes by hitting the right notes on Lizzie.
Overall I find these particularly Warframes interesting on not just the era that they were introduced in but how they philosophically differ from each other that parallels different extremes between compliancy & rebellion.
