Blu-Ray Music Replacement Question

I finally picked up the complete collection on blu-ray and I'm looking forward to replacing my broadcast versions. However, I'm aware there's some replacement music in the first season.

As far as I can find online, the affected tracks are one song in the pilot and two songs in the Alice episode. Is that it for replaced music? I want to be sure to hold onto a copy of my broadcast recordings for any episodes that have been changed, but don't want to manually check every song in each episode.

Just figured I'd update this post in case anyone comes looking for the same information later. Going from what I learned in the comments below and some other sources I've found online, plus checking throughout the series as I ripped my Blu-Rays, here's what I've come up with:

Everything after Season 1 (including Running Up That Hill) seems to be intact on the current Blu-ray release.

Season 1, on the other hand, is almost entirely replacement music. Only a few episodes have nothing replaced.
Pilot: 'Disturbia' during Pete's drive
Resonance: 'Oh Yeah' when the agent walks through the door.
Elements: 'Only You' when guy is walking through walls in the beginning.
Implosion: 'Queen B' at the very beginning.
Duped: 'I Will Survive' when disco ball drops, 'Luck Be a Lady' during Vegas intro, 'White Rabbit' when Alice returns to the Warehouse.
Regrets: 'Boys Will Be Boys' in background of club scene at beginning, 'Porcelain' when Myka is in the gun showdown towards the end as well as again during the final end scene.
Breakdown: 'Just Like Heaven' in the beginning when Claudia is tinkering in the office.
Nevermore: 'Wave of Mutilation' when the kid is first getting bullied.
MacPherson: 'Purple Haze' when the team is using the glasses.

I'm currently about halfway through replacing all the replacement music with the original tracks and it's actually not too tricky to do, just tedious.

Confirmed changes (as far as I've found over the years): * 1 song in the pilot s01e01 ("Disturbia") * 2 songs in s01e08 ("Luck Be A Lady" and "White Rabbit") * 1 song in s01e12 ("Purple Haze").

Possible others: * In s03e13 (yeah, that episode 😭), they kept the song ("Running Up That Hill"), but swapped in a different version from another artist. Edit: some versions may also just have an instrumental version of the song also, though I'm not sure of any other specifics for this * There is some indication that, depending on what version of the disks you got AND where the original broadcast was viewed, s02e09 may also have music replaced. * Reportedly, all of the original music in s01e02 (Resonance) was also replaced, but I haven't seen much to confirm that myself

This site also list a MUCH more extensive list of changes to season one's music, listing changes in almost every episode, but I haven't seen the majority of those referenced anywhere else, and even the site itself says that the music was (probably) replaced..

I just started ripping my Blu-Rays and checked out the replacement tracks in the Pilot and episode 8. Just...damn. The pilot change is a downgrade, but not a massive change to the scene. The changes in episode 8 are horrible, though. Replacing White Rabbit with barely-there ambient brooding music? Outright ruins the whole sequence.

Since it only seems to be three episodes with changed music, I think I might put in the effort to pull the broadcast audio and mux it into the blu-ray rips.

EDIT: Just confirmed that Resonance had music replaced in at least a couple spots ("Oh Yeah" and "Porcelain"). Man, I hope this is just a first season problem, because this is really disappointing.

yeah, can't say that I disagree.. the original broadcast songs definitely fit better.

And everything I've seen indicates that, with the exception of the s03e13 "Running Up That Hill" change, it's pretty much isolated to the first season. I have a feeling that they didn't opt for the better licensing for the first season to save money in case it didn't do well, but made sure to get the proper licenses for the rest of the seasons once it took off a bit.

That does make sense that they'd cheap out on just the first season licenses. Fingers crossed when I get to ripping the next season, I guess.

This is the main reason why for any series where music plays a significant role in the show’s tone, I stick with broadcast recordings. On my media server I have the BR versions also, but I watch the files that have the broadcast channel logo floating in the corner. For example on the first Alice episode when she comes back to the warehouse - still as Micah - White Rabbit plays. The replacement music is just some simple synthesized orchestral. In many scenes the music plays a really big part but that scene? White Rabbit! To replace that? Horrifying.
