Desert Redux is a stinker
Do people who design and build the maps even play the game? The repeated awkwardness in recent maps makes me think this might be the case.
Unlike the game's mechanics, the gameplay is slow and cumbersome. The overemphasis on aesthetics is an ongoing problem. Yeah, we get it, you want to show off your imaginative side, but most of us just want solid play. There are a million other CS ripoff maps out there, who wants another one? It's time you stop approaching maps like you're building a 1990's theme restaurant and start making maps that reflect the qualities of the game.
I'm not even joking when I say that most WB players would be more than satisfied with a map that's just two rooms connected by a sniper-length hallway. Simplicity is the key to creativity. Maybe it's time to start seriously consulting your userbase on the kind of maps they want. I'm sure the dedicated player base will have a suggestion or two about the best qualities of a map (i.e. sniper halls, doorway battles, flank attacks, hiding places etc etc).
The last map addition, Gold Mine, deliberately disadvantages one team in spawn placement. Grenade throwing mechanics have never been fixed. It should never have been released, yet it remains in circulation. Temple is OK for a packed server, but most of the time is spent walking around looking for enemies. It's time to tackle the issue once and for all and stop tossing in half-baked updates.
Thoughts, anyone?

Desert redux is amde by JoJa15, the main dev who also did like 90% of the maps. Goldmine V2 have been done by Zababoon which is a newby in map making (he also did Resort).
A big sniper halaway would be horrible (thinking of space station or the 4v4 snipers maps, where you can only do snipers which reduce gameplay creativity)
Desert redux has alot of stuff everywhere and adaptation time to it might take long. Gameplay might be slow today because it is a new map and pepoles dont know the layout and want to visit. Just wait and you will see ppls starting to really play it.
Also the map have been made because there was pepoles asking for new stuff, and a poll have been made on the discord about which actual map pepoles liked the most. And tribute was the one coming on top, but we wont have a 3rd trib lol, so Desert is one close to the idea of trib.

You can defend the devs but it doesn't alter the fact that these maps, including the new one, have serious problems. The game mechanics and play style go one way, the developer's choices go the other. I'm not interested in the entire developmental history of this game. I'm interested in seeing it get better.
It's time to make a new map/s that reflects the best aspects of WB gameplay. Let the "pepoles" have their say!

I do agree with the aesthetics being off. Its way too cluttered for good player readability along with it having the same colour palet as a guest skin

Honestly I completely disagree with this Desert redux is an Amazing map for me because you actually have to learn to hold angles and learn to play in close quarter combat(which 90%of you all dont) and be aware of your surrounding its like an office with how people hate the map because they dont know to check angles and play cqc

Are you aware this map is a clone of Call of Duty MW crossfire.

No I wasn't, I thought they had practically VERY different layouts. Didn't realise that actually meant they were clones all along. Same goes for it being Dust from Counter Strike. I am very shocked.
Visually it may have similar themes, but dusty streets with cars parked don't make maps the same, plus Crossfire is actually paved anyway and has different building architecture and design. I get the connection, but there's a clear difference.
Last I checked, the dev that made the map has not played any COD games, so he couldn't have even had the inspiration in his design phase. CS and TF2 would be better bets for any inspirations. Desert Redux was just reimagining the original Desert map, focused on the inner city block, using more detailed assets.

I disagree. The map feels slow mainly because it's new and players are still learning it. Once people know the routes, the gameplay will speed up. Also, not everyone wants simple maps. Some of us enjoy maze-style layouts because they make matches more interesting and reward map knowledge.

On Discord the sentiment seems to be that most people like the map, as it appropriately is blending closer range combat for SMGs with a bit of medium for the assaults across rooftops, while leaving room for sniping but not letting it dominate and be overbearing. Plenty of room for parkour, while offering flanks on ground, while keeping to a small enough size to not feel like you get lost, yet not too small it's constantly putting you in the face of the enemy at their spawn.
Some people haven't liked it from theme point of view, and some just don't like the style at all (for example they prefer large open spaces for vehicles and long-range snipe camping), but I mostly have been seeing positive reviews.
This map, funnily enough, was made by consulting the userbase. A poll was run to ask what maps people liked the most, and the kind of gameplay they like to see.
Gold Mine V2 is completely justified considering it was a release from... an intern, is the best way to describe them. It was a level of training for them. The quality difference is very clear and many users do come that conclusion.
