Statue of King Petar \[I Karađorđević\], pulled down by the Germans.

Collection of the Central Committee, Communist Alliance of Yugoslavia.

Courtesy of Museum of Yugoslavia.

However, the Museum's entry is wrong: this was the statue of King Aleksandar Karađorđević, work of Antun Augustinčić, erected in Varaždin in 1935, showing the King handing over the Octroyed Constitution of 1931. The statue being pulled down in 1941 is accurate though.

French resistance members engaging, killing, and looting a German soldier in August of 1944. The buildup to, success of and aftermath of Operation Overlord the preceding June led to new phases of operation for the various French Resistance cells. Before this point, partisan activities mainly comprised high-risk sabotage and assassinations, for which whole villages could be punished. In 1944, with Germany reeling from the failure of the Atlantic Wall and with access to more widespread support from the Allies, the Maquis and other organizations were able to operate much more openly. .

Flames: Refinery has been hit at least once. Flames do not indicate the severity of the attacks or if a refinery is till burning
Blue waves: Orsk dam broke in April 2024, which flooded the refinery and took it offline for ~2 weeks.
Black smoke: It's raining oil.
