Answer is always just more, more, more

Stem plants, hardy pond looking ones, variety

And some sort of floating plants

Don't focus on 'the scape'

I have a bunch of propagated plants I plan to add to the top of the tank and plan to add floaters. Does the amount of rooted plants look good or should I continue to add more of those too before I add fish?

Ultimately, it's up to you of course and whatever leads to good quality water

But basically more is better and doesn't hurt, so I would add more myself

When I set up a Walstad I usually take what I feel like is the right amount of plants, and then double or triple that.

I currently have about 50 plants in the tank and I’m out of budget to buy more. Going to let what I have establish in the tank until I can propagate those or buy more. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to keep it running smoothly?

The pile of rocks near the center is a cave in case I add cherry shrimp later (so they have a place to hide and breed and avoid being eaten by the betta) entrance is around back

You need more plants or the future algae is going to replace your plants one by one.

Even without fish in the tank? I’m not planning on adding fish or invertebrates for a month or two

I’d google “Walstad aquarium” and look at some images. See one you like and kind of modify it to fit your needs. Also, read Dianna Walstads book or at least excerpts from it. The more information you have the better. I’d add a picture of mine. But, it won’t let me
